hbo sells the rights to shows to other networks for shitload of money, i.e. the sopranos getting aired on A&E after its HBO run. HBO made 2.5 mil per episode it sold to A&E

I completely forgot Sex and the City airs on TBS. You're absolutely right.

5 seasons is a good run. I need to catch up in time for the finish.

The networks still want people to watch their shows, otherwise the advertising spots are worthless.

That doesn't have anything to do with quality.

How many times have you seen the network series pull some shitty gimmick to drive up ratings?

frick. That's disappointing. There is so much potential with the true history and storylines. Would have thought they could make it 7-8 seasons.. Maybe shift to focus on more Capone.. Oh well

2 out of 3 of AMC's big shows have ended/are ending. Breaking Bad just ended and Mad Men is ending. Walking Dead is the only one with future seasons.

Yeah, I'd argue that FX > AMC at this point. The Americans and Justified are better than Mad Men anyway.

Many of those actors have film roles now. Even Steve Buschemi is busy. Hard to keep such a large cast together for that many years. Think about how many people are regulars on that show?

HBO could do a whole series on Capone.

I could go on forever about the actors playing much smaller roles that have really been the breakthrough performers

Why is the quality of HBO programming miles better than anything else on tv?

Better budget and better writers.

AMC has the most to gain/lose in the next two years out of any network. You're finishing up two award winning shows, some of the finest television ever. Your appeal is sky high. So is your profile.

The worst thing (IMO) AMC can possibly do is make a bunch of spinoffs. I'm not even a quarter of the way through Breaking Bad, so I can't vouch for the validity of Better Call Saul. But theres also rumors of a Walking Dead spinoff with another group that has nothing to do with Ricks group.

They've got to get a new original show. I'm sure they have a ton of interest right now.

THIS! I don't see why they are ending the show now that Capone is finally getting more involved.

You could do a Capone series that has nothing to do with BE.

I would be happy with that. Just have Capone snorting coke and killing people for an hour!
