Basically a cliff-hanger in a mini-series. I'd say the good guys still came out on top.

06. Moonlight (2016)

Haven’t seen this movie and won’t see this movie, but I have a sneaking suspicion if the story involved a heterosexual relationship it wouldn’t be sniffing this list.

true. i also have a sneaking suspicion that if The Wrestler was about a washed up used car salesmen, it wouldnt be on the list either.

I don’t know, it would be pretty weird to watch a movie about a washed up used car salesman revisiting a wrestling match from earlier in his career.

i guess your right. if you change a major detail about the main character, youd have to make a lot of other changes to accommodate that change, and before too long it becomes a very different, much less interesting premise.

Played out!

I was poking the bear on that one. I get why it isn't on this list. That being said, the franchise does not get the credit it deserves

It's maybe my least favorite movie on the list, but way to stay purposefully ignorant so that you can type stupid things.

It's not the relationship alone. It is the style. Jenkins borrowed pretty liberaly from Wong Kar-Wai, whose movies, and especially In the Mood for Love and Chungking Express, have been featured on just about every list of best movies from the 90s.

It also has temporal similarities to Boyhood and Manchester by the Sea, 2 films that were probably not far away from the top 20 presented here.

Then we have the fact that every other movie on the list that includes any sort of romance has a heterosexual romance.

And finally, I'm guessing that The Dark Knight wouldn't be there if it weren't part of the Batman Franchise. Same with Return of the King and Lord of the Rings, except that their origin and characters are part of the fabric of the stories presented in those movies. What happens to the character in Moonlight does not happen if he's not poor, black, and gay. You might think that's overkill. That's fine. The mom in The Florida Project only works if she's poor and female. The Wolf of Wall Street requires the lower middle class white guy origin. Pan's Labyrinth only works if it's set during WWII Europe. The Dark knight is the dopiest piece of action nonsense if it's not set in the Batman universe.

Sorry, anyone who brags about not seeing a movie before criticising it, immediately presents himself as an idiot.

The Social Network still has the best trailer I've ever seen. It's crafting his better than most films now:

Yeah I should have said I haven’t seen this one or Heriditary so can’t comment on either.

The Voodoos ironically don’t do scary movies

I mean, it would be a completely different story if he wasn’t gay so not sure this makes sense at all
