This list comes from everyone's favorite countdown channel, WatchMojo ( ). No animated films were included on here for whatever reason. So...let's dive into how they ranked the films:

18. The Wrestler (2008)
17. City of God (2002)

Terrible list. And the Wolf of Wall Street blows.

Terrible list, but the only ones that are completely indefensible are Moonlight at 6 and Wolf of Wall Street at 20. And maybe Hereditary - I haven't seen it.

Ex Machina and Whiplash robbed and City of God should be top 5 (#1 on my list)

Yeah...I'm surprised Whiplash didn't make the list. That was easily one of the best films of the 2010s. They probably just forgot about it in their rush to include Moonlight.

No Country should be higher. If we’re forced to have only one Tarantino, it should be IB

Why would they be? Those movies are all the same. Impossible odds, long shot plans, lots of close calls, and the good guys barely pull it out.

Played out!

I still haven't finished The Wolf of Wall Street. The Kill Bills don't deserve a spot. Pan's Labyrinth sucked. Never heard of Parasite and Hereditary. There Will Be Blood is 2 1/2 boring hours of DDL overacting about milkshakes. The Social Network is Hollywood fluffing social media. No Inherent Vice, frick that list.

Oh my goodness, the good guys win and you think this is played out now? What a novel concept, I’m sure Marvel invented that trend and it’s never been seen before in cinema. Notwithstanding the bad guy won in IW.

Back to the OP - TWoWS isn’t even Leo’s best movie of the century. Or top 3 for that matter. How is The Departed not on this list?

Absolutely love No Country ... what about Gangs of New York? The Departed? Mystic River? Catch me if you can?

Honestly, not a bad list but predictable. Although, only one true comedy and no Pixar film?

To me, there should have been another Nolan film on every list: Inception which redefined the action genre. Many here will push for The Prestige as well.

The Social Network is a good film but it doesn’t replay well at all. It’s boring after the first or second viewing.

And Casino Royale should be on the list as the best Bond film ever made.

obviously swap Wolf with the Departed. no brainer there. even Silence should be ahead of Wolf.

Grand Budapest over Royal Tenebaums makes absolutely no sense to me. i think Wes should def be on the list somewhere tho.

get rid of Mulholland Drive and Get Out.

Add Children of Men, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

Loved Social Network, but no way is it the best movie of the century.

havent seen Moonlight or Parasite yet.

eta: damn, yeah Whiplash should find a spot on there somewhere too.

But that would be insane.

Mulholland Drive and Eternal Sunshine would be the only two of these that would make my list. I don't think the list sucks at all. Almost all of these movies are very good, and several are great.

The dark knight at #2 does feel like a joke, though.

I'm not saying I agree with this list, I'm not saying I don't. But I think a lot of the hate stems from a conspicuous lack of films from a certain movie franchise. I'll let you guess which franchise that might be.

The Fellowship of the Ring is easily the best film of the franchise imo.

I would have Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon as top 5.

Glad Eternal Sunshine hasn’t been forgotten.

Not a bad list, could make an argument for pretty much all of them. I’d personally like to Children of Men and In Bruges on any list of this century, and yeah Inception is a pretty groundbreaking one to leave off.

But Dark Knight at #2
