Whether it was Chaplin, Wayne, Stewart, Brando, Pacino, Hepburn, Davis, Hanks, etc, he passed someone as history's biggest movie star some time ago.
Strange dude, it seems, but nobody has given more to make great movies than that guy.

As strange as Cruise is he appears to be 100% fixated on creating entertaining movies. Not becoming a bigger celeb, not obscure art-house stuff that lets him stretch, he doesn't care if he's typecast, and I sorta doubt he even chases awards. He just wants to entertain and he hits way, way more often than he misses.

Cruise is the last of a type of actor. The true movie star. The guy that when he’s in a movie you gotta see it.
Leo is obviously a big draw but there are several of his movies I never had the urge to watch.
Will Smith could have been something similar but somewhere along the way he stopped picking entertaining movies and started trying to chase awards. And the movies he did pick for “entertainment” ended up being so bad.
Not sure we will ever see someone like Tom Cruise again.
