Did you miss the part where Howard was the one pressured and persuaded the old people into waiting, when they wanted to settle because they might not live long enough to see a larger settlement?

Did you miss the part where he told jimmy & Kimmy that he was in debt, establishing his motive for holding out for a bigger settlement?

Did you miss the part where Howard convinced the class representative to use a wheelchair for the meeting, even after she said she didn't need one? That was pure theatrics, just like Jimmy/Saul would use.

The lawyers job is to advise the client. The client gets to make the decision to settle or not. In fact, they are free to fire HHM and go with another firm. Settling for less than the case is worth might only be in the best interest for a handful of clients. Also, lets not forget Howard had just been drugged by Saul and Kim and was not acting like himself.

Howard is clearly directing Irene and not simply advising her.

Advising would consist of presenting the options with the pros and cons of each, providing your advice on which is best and why, then letting the client representative decide.

I was referring to a different scene in a previous episode when he stepped in over the junior female attorney to persuade/pressure the plaintiffs not to settle when they were ready to.

But I'm not really debating what an attorney's job is. We're discussing a self-contained story, and in this story, my point was that they've shown Howard to be a three-dimensional character with conflicting motives and ethical failures.

Pressuring the clients to change their minds based on his own monetary interests is certainly an ethical failure. Pressuring the old lady to sit in a wheelchair that she said she didn't need - purely for theatrics - is no different than something ol' Slipping Jimmy would pull.

Agreed. And I’d totally forgotten that. That’s huge.

Funny that people think Howard is the bad guy and not the lawyer for Sand Piper who is a true piece of shite (Rich Schweikart)
I think Rich seems like a nice enough guy. He’s just doing his job it’s not like he wants to screw the old people. But even bad guys in law suits need representation

Why would lalo ever even suspect that Saul knows Mike though

He did that because Erin is just the worst

Are truck stop showers really that nice? I’ve never been in one, but was impressed it had a locking door and a fully enclosed bathroom. I thought it’d be a dirty shower with a pull across curtain.

Like you said, he's probably going to start his interrogation with what happened in the desert and that leads right to Mike.

Or he may be curious why they are shocked that he is alive (his apparent death wasn't big news, as far as he knows)

Either way, Saul's not going to be holding back much. Saving his own arse is a good enough reason on its own but now he has Kim to worry about, too.

I was always grossed out by those shower signs at the nasty arse old Flying J's and shite along I-10 as a kid.

But there are social media reviews and videos for everything, so I just did a quick google. Apparently their not that bad: youtube

But what do you do in that situation

Tell lalo what really happen in the desert and risk him killing you or Kim for lying to him the first time around.

Or try to continue the same story told first time and risk him

Not only that, but Kim was told that Lalo was not dead and Lalo will likely get that out of her and want to know who told her.

Lalo already knows Gus doesn't believe he's dead due to the tapping of Tio's phone, but it could play into what happens with Kim.

If you're Saul, you give him what he wants and take your chances. Maybe you stick to the events in the desert and leave out any further contact with Mike (like when he told you Lalo would soon be dead), if you could.

Sure, there is a 98% chance that Lalo kills you on his way out the door (those odds got sealed the second he painted the wall with Howard's brains) but those odds go up to 100% if he catches you in a lie, or believes that you're lying. Doubling down on the original story is futile because he didn't buy the story the first time around and Kim's trick of dressing him down won't work this go around. Lalo isn't playing around right now.

Now, Kim has a slightly different calculation in that she believes that the calvalry may be on its way or even already there. She doesn't know that her shadows from Mike were pulled off. Or maybe WE don't know that Mike kept them on her. Either way, maybe she stalls for time but even that won't last forever.

Yeah I don’t see any scenario that lalo leaves letting Kim
And Jimmy live.

But if Mike snipers him, then there’s no payoff to gus hiding the gun in lab

I dont think either one said "you are supposed to be dead", etc.

Saul asked "How?", but..his reaction was totally normal to a murderer he was afraid of, coming out of nowhere to execute someone in front of him for no apparent reason.
