The whole movie plot is a gigantic example of how truly elite people see the world. I deserve everything and the consequences and well being of those around me are not my problem. Meanwhile, I hold myself up as the ideal of what a person should be.

Sell it to someone who does who gives them "a fair price" and then turns around and sells it for millions.

That wouldn't work. The eventual seller would have to explain where he got it, and it would legally belong to Cal's heir, regardless of time frame.

It didn't work for people selling nazi seized art decades after the war, and it wouldn't work for the diamond either.

Cal didn’t marry anyone else and even then she could just say it was gifted to her.

He did later on before he blew his brains out.

Also, it's a travesty the Billy Zane isn't in more movies.

Yes he did. It's in the clip I posted.

She can no more do that than a burglar can say I gifted my TV to him.

I don't think she could have sold the diamond. It wasn't hers, and Cal lived for several years after the Titanic sank. If she'd attempted to sell it, she'd have been arrested, and Cal and her mother would know she was alive. I can at least agree with that part.

It was a gift. It was hers, period.

Regardless, guy killed himself right after the crash in 1929. That left her 70 years to sell it.

Did he report it lost or stolen? If not, then once he's dead who's to say it wasn't gifted.

No, she basically stole it from the safe. And it was a famous gem. If it ever saw the light of day, alarms would sound. I've seen this go down in the world of coin collecting. It just isn't happening.

She can’t steal her own diamond.

Exactly. Plus Cal probably reported it lost or wrote it off. As for his heirs, do we really believe he would tell them about Rose, much less that she jacked a diamond from him? As far as he knows she and that diamond went down in the ocean.

Eh. They never got married. If he wanted it, she has no proof. Plus, if she sold it, she would expose herself as having abandoned him and her mother, name change and all. That's not going to look good in a courtroom when you're trying to prove ownership.

She's still a piece of shite, though. Dude gives her a diamond and she wears it while posing nude for and boning another guy.

And yes, as another poster said, she ends up wanting to "be with Jack" when she dies and not the sucker she married and had kids with. Must have been awesome to be that guy.
