The part about him being a racist was such a small part of the dialogue I can’t believe people freak out about it. There was what, 2-3 lines about it in the entire movie?

There may have been a couple of stereotypes that a lot of left wing America perpetuates......but the movie and acting were good enough that I didn't care. I can't say the same for The Last Jedi.
Three Billboards was actually a very good movie.

I think a base level view of it could be that the scene where he throws ole boy out the window just shows that him beating him a black kid wasn’t racist, he’s just a lunatic, atleast for the first 2/3rds of the movie before his redemption.
