Less than 20 seconds she’s on the ground about to die till she pulls out a second lightsaber.

then he’s literally fighting her off while chasing Mae

and then Sol is there. And she still gets 3 hole punched like a sheet of paper.

Since most of my thoughts on this are well covered here, the only think I wanna add is that the treatment Solo got wasn't fair at all. That was a legitimately great movie that got shite on hard for no reason other than it came out on the heels of VIII that was just as legitimately horrorible and people took that anger out on Solo.

That’s exactly what I did.
I refused to go see Solo or whatever the last movie was b/c of the Last Jedi.

The Acolyte’s backlash and criticism is difficult to parse as many fans detail their creative objections to the show’s storytelling and its bold take on Jedi lore — “just because we didn’t like this doesn’t mean we’re racist,” basically. Some other Acolyte bashers were, well, clearly racist.
It couldn’t be that it sucked or failed to interest lifelong Star Wars fans, it has to be that people are racist.

Disney is bad at everything right now

Came here to post this. Disney is absolutely bad at Star Wars, but there’s not much they are good at right now.

The parks are run down from years of underfunding annd neglect, and rides are down constantly.

The studio is a disaster and has zero creativity, due in large part to an overreliance on existing IP and sequels/prequels. Even the movies they announced at D23 were sequels (Incredibles 3, Toy Story 5, etc).

Even their new hotels suck. They went from iconic resorts like the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, and Wilderness Lodge to now building junk like the Riviera, which has a tiny footprint, looks like a Marriott, and reeks of cut corners and budget cuts.

The only thing they do well is their cruise line. It’s the last bastion of what the Disney experience and service used to be everywhere. So of course I'm sure they’ll figure out a way to ruin that too.

No, I'm saying that if they simply hired better storytellers it would solve everything. You can't put the cart before the horse.

P
That's the thing

The one line people pull from 1 of 6 movies

I could find a dozen, just from the sequel trilogy that are as bad or worse. I could probably find a dozen from each episode of The Acolyte, which had dialogue, lore accuracy, and script cohesion on par with The Holiday Special

You can find a line of shitty dialogue in almost every trilogy.

Just because the Witch King is killed by the power of semantics, doesn't make LotR as bad as the Willow TV show

These things are not equal

Look Disney has absolutely sucked with Star Wars. Kathleen Kennedy has proven without a doubt she should never be anywhere near a decision room unless it's to bring someone coffee. But Disney hasn't ruined Star Wars any worse than Lucas did. At least with Disney we can hope and pray Kennedy gets replaced by someone competent and we get less content but better content.

Disney shite the bed the second they declared the Expanded Universe non-canon. Even the one character they kept, Thrawn, was turned into a frumpy douche.

Rogue One and Andor are the only real bright spots.

Lucas gets a pass on the odd dialogue choice here and there. Not every line was a work of art, but all the movies had value for the larger universe. Everyone made the universe a little bigger, more fleshed out. . .and the payoffs were grand and worth it.

correct.
the prequels had some silly lines, but they were easy to overlook (while still making fun of them) b/c the story that was being told was still really good.

TFA was a really good movie to start the sequel trilogy. Sure it could have been better, but no one was complaining about it when they were seeing it 2-3 times in th theaters while it made $2B and led to the most anticipated movie ever. It still has an 84% audience score. TLJ is the worst movie ever made, and has cost Disney billions of dollars. The sad part is ROS actually had a decent story to add to the Star Wars universe with the holocrons and dyads, but most people don't want to recognize anything that happen in those 3 movies. The story outside of that part of the bigger picture is just so bad, with so many pointless scenes, but the big picture of the dyads and holocrons was an interesting addition to the universe, picked up from the animated Clone Wars and Rebels.

The problem the sequels had is there were no good fight scenes. No one wants to watch Rey fight with a lighsaber. She has zero athletic ability to make it look fun and entertaining. No one wants to watch non-jedi Finn fight with a lightsaber, b/c it makes no sense. They could have just done the indiana jones grab his gun and shoot the moron without a gun scene with him. Kylo had no one to fight worth a shite, and the one scene where he's wrecking the red guards was choreographed by a moron. There isn't a single memorable fight scene in all 3 movies. The only cool thing i can remember is the first scene from TFA when Kylo force grabs the laser bullet. That was badass, and belieavable. Rey force holding back a ship was just silly, and yet another sign of her over powering by the writers. And I'd say the same thing if Kylo was doing that. That's something I expect Darth Vader to be able to do, and only him, and when he did do that in Obi-Wan, it was awesome. They didn't even have cool space battles, b/c they were all riddled with stupidity, like dropping bombs in space, or using light speed to crash through a ship, or yo mama jokes. They just had very little that makes Star Wars cool, the fight and action scenes. The Prequels had a ton of awesome fight and action scenes. Even the worst of the 3, Attack of the Clones, had Yoda fight Dooku, as well as Obi-Wan and Anakin fight him, and somehow a guy collecting social security has better lightsaber battle movement than 20 year old Rey.

The Prequels were far from perfect. But in comparison to the sequels, they are masterpieces of cinema.

The only real lore change, however, was with midichlorians.

I member all of it. I saw Empire, Return, the entire prequel trilogy, and TFA on opening day. Been there the whole time.

Do I member? Yes, all of it.

I thought TFA was great, when I saw it. But the way TLJ shite all over every open thread, made TFA suck.

Having a trilogy without a single vision and direction was a choice Disney Star Wars may never recover from.

No they aren’t.

thats the biggest issue I have with the Disney Star Wars hate.

you don’t need to prop up shirt PT to shite on the ST.

they’re both bad.

1st movie has like 60 minutes of Jar Jar Binks screen time and demystifies the force by introducing midi-chloreans.
Maybe the worst thing to happen to star wars lore ever.

Second Movie: Oh that little kid is now a teenager and is dating Padme, who seems cool with him murdering an entire tribe of Tuscan Raiders. NO red flags there. Let’s marry him.

Third Mocie: Anakin gets upset because of his job title, and being told to spy on Palpatine. This shakes Anakin’s faith in the Jedi even though l Palpatine turns out to be a Sith and Jedi were right to have Anakin spy on him.

Yoda decides instead of him and Obi-wan fighting Palpatine they should split up. Dumb.

The Mustafwr fight is good besides 3 minutes they spend climbing a tower, and the end where Anakin flips over Obi-wan who effortlessly severs 2 arms and a leg in on strike somehow. “I haaaaaate youuu”

Padme dies of a broken heart? Despite having 2 children to live for.

Oh and then at the end they decide Vader cannot know about the twins. So they send 1 with Organa to be raised as a public figure, and the other they give Anakin’s last name and take him to live with one of like 5 total people alive that have any connection to Dark Vader. And they tell him who his father is, and they tell Luke Anakin was a spice trader which instills an interest in space travel.

They were shite movies.

I was 9’whrn Phantom Menace came out. I was the demographic and I thought they kinda sucked.
