I disagree. I think the issue with a lot of action/thriller movies these days is how caught up in the details they try to get, and the result is usually a mostly confused and uninterested audience

This movie wasn’t a masterpiece, but it knew what it was and gave that to the audience. I wish more movies focused on that instead of trying to build a universe or build some complex political plot backing it

We know all we need to about the motivations of the good guys (survival) and the motivation of the bad guys (stop said survival)

Was 30 more minutes of Tyler perry talking on the phone to politicians or a scene where the kid looks at the content of what his dad uncovered going to make it a better movie? I don’t think so.

Yeah, cause the Transformers franchise is the height of movie making.

I'm assuming that there is 30 more minutes of Tyler Perry that ended up being (wisely) edited out.

I assume he is; I see his logo plastered on pick-up trucks across Ascension Parish.

Unless I nodded off, didn’t learn why the woman was killed, why dad was on run other than he was a forensic acct, how there this was this complex hit man organization that could guess based off a photo where they were going. Did they have a team at every family members? How was punisher dude related to kid? Baby in tummy was probably dead from trauma but nobody knows. Who was Tyler perry character and why did he care? Like I said, I may have missed some key parts but just seemed like a movie of plot holes

Somebody on TexAgs put it well when they said they feel like 30 minutes was cut off the front of the movie and 15 minutes at the end that would have made it a lot better.

Y’all really think putting a 2 hour 25 minute run time is going to improve this movie? I really don’t get this thinking given the kind of movie it is

What women?

He had info to expose bad dudes. What else do you need?

That’s a valid point. typical plot armor stuff

How was punisher dude related to kid?

Why does it matter? Who cares

He’s a bad guy in charge of getting rid of the evidence against other bad guys. I don’t need any more backstory from him

I just think if the movie had taken another 40 minutes to answer all these ancillary questions, it would just make the movie clunkier and longer, not better.

The woman in opening scene.... I mean started off with wtf and ended with wtf... except for 2 hit man trying to get a kid who has a letter and a computer drive that we have no idea what they say and why they want to kill anyone and everyone close to the kid

That was the wife of the accountants boss. The hitmen killed the entire family and blew the house up which is what tipped off the father that they should go into hiding because people are out to get them.

Again this feels like ancillary information to the plot and character motivations.

We know why they want to kill them, for one they have info they were paid to ensure doesn’t get out, and for two the child witnessed them murder the father. That’s a loose end they need to tie up, regardless of the content of the flash drive. And from the point of the car crash, they need to kill any potential witnesses from that point on or else they would be implicated in their many crimes. They state this directly before the scene with the pregnant wife of Berthals character

What exactly does it add to the plot if they would’ve added a scene where they make up a fake senator that’s got something on the flash drive he’s trying to hide and going into detail to what is on the flash drive? It really isn’t important to the story they are trying to tell.

It’s not the runtime, just that there could have been more exposition to give the film a heavier feel as done with other Sheridan movies.

I don’t think there was ever going to be enough to work with in this plot to be top level Sheridan. It’s not his original script so he worked it into what it was.

I think the decision to keep the background info to a minimum was a purposeful one and a good one. It’s not an Oscar movie, but it’s a fun thriller/action movie that’s an easy watch. We need more of that.

Agreed, I think that people expect fireworks and sometimes they just make an action movie. His movies have leaned more towards heavier themes than this one.

I.e. Tenet. I liked it. It wasn’t his best but I don’t need Oscar material every movie from him.

Jolie has the weirdest running style I think I’ve ever seen. Overall movie was okay took a long time to develop and missing info. That seemed pertinent.

The hitmen figuring out where they were going from one picture was dumb as hell. Think Angeline Jolie was miscast as well. When I see Sheridan's name attached to something, I excepted something with a little more meat on its bones. Felt like a cheap Liam Neeson action movie.
