Sorry I just got that the toilet flushing made him realize someone else was there so then maybe it wasn’t worth the risk to start killing.

One of my favorite things about this movie is that there is no music. Makes certain scenes even more tense IMO.

The look he gives the old man as he's walking out is absolutely a classic. It makes me laugh every time- I guess in stark contrast to the tension that came directly before it.

And all of this time I was just thinking he knew nothing he did to her would make he talk. I always thought he respected her for standing up to him. Now you have me wondering if she reminded him of his own mother.
ETA: Or if he didn't kill her because he was sexually attracted to her because she reminded him of his mother. Like if he hadn't gotten injured at the end, he might have driven back through to see her. Maybe that could be the beginning of a 'No Country for Old Men, Part Deuce'!

He didn't kill her because someone else, who he knew nothing about, was somewhere in the office.

I don’t see him as evil. He is death, plain and simple Death is random like a coin toss. A philosophy unknown to mortals. As he walked away with his head down and arm in a sling it foreshadowed Ed Toms dream. He knew he’d be waiting out there in all that cold and all that snow. When I got there he’d be there.
You can’t outrun death. You can’t stop what’s comin. That’s vanity.
