Wesley Morris is basically an automatic skip,

He is definitely annoying.

He’s a mixed bag. Good on some, not good on others.

I have come to appreciate his intricate understanding of story/plot and all the construction and archetypes involved. He doesn't always flex this but when he does he clearly shows a better understanding of it than any of the other hosts, including SF (who is supposed to be the advanced cinephile role).

Sometimes he'll drop a bomb explaining the story structure, correcting one of the big names, and everyone goes silent for a second. I think that upstaging is why he doesn't go to the well that often. I don't think BS/CR/SF like to be upstaged.

I listened to it today. Enjoyable listen. I like most of the Rewatchable episodes. Probably in the minority here but I enjoy Simmons, you just have to keep in mind what he is.

I too like Simmons. He can be douchie at times for sure, but its a likeable douchiness. I think I could probably enjoy a beer with him. Granted, I dont listen to any of his other shows or podcasts, and I never have. My opinion of him is basically based solely on ReWatchables.

Yeah it's his sports takes that make people not like him, but at the end of the day he's a fan just like you and I.

He's fine on TR but I don't believe for a second he was this film super fan in the 80s and 90s following directors and shite like he claims he did.

He also has irrational takes on genres and film, and you can clearly see him reverting back to high school and being worried people would think he's a nerd and not cool for liking the wrong type of stuff. He can tolerate some forms of sci fi and completely hates fantasy. His absolute rejection of the LOTR trilogy is just sad, at this point

Although it's good that they've moved on from the woke era and that's dead and they basically mock it now.
