since i've posted, nobody is "threatened" about the movie. it's just funny that you're criticizing it when you haven't seen it, and on top of that, you're making ridiculous comparisons that don't actually make any sense

This movie may or may not be different but it has done nothing to generate my interest.
If it is on a movie channel in 6 months I may or may not give it 15-20 minutes to win me over.

as a former pretentious douche, i agree
luckily i was never a PD with regards to comedy. comedy has different forms, and as long as the piece does that style well, it's almost always funny. there is a time and a place for physical comedy, dick/fart jokes, and elevated referential dialogue

I don't think he meant it as "I'm too good for these kinds of movies." He meant it as "I don't think this type of humor is funny."
If he doesn't want to go see it because he doesn't think it's his type of comedy, then that's fine imo. I'm the same way. I will catch it on the movie channels and I'm sure he'll do the same
