A lot of people, myself included, are upset that Snokes backstory wasn't revealed. Now old Rian has said that it was because the backstory wasn't relevant, blah blah blah. I think the real reason is this:

After episode 9, the next trilogy will be set in the Old Republic, thousands of years ago. I say this for several reasons.

1. It will become too stale to continue the "main story"
2. The actress that plays Rey apparently doesn't want to continue the role right after 9. Wants a break.
3. This will allow more flexibility.

SO my theory is theyy set the next trilogy thousands of years ago and it turns out that the hero or one of the supporting characters from that trilogy turns into Snoke.

So, Snoke just chilled during all the other movies?

Or he was dead and hadn't been reanimated yet

Reanimated? Seriously?

I think he was sealed by the Jedi or something comparable. Something awoke him

Why would we care enough to see that transformation? It’s not like Anakin to Vader. Snake is no where near important enough right now for an origin trilogy.

Will the next film be about Rey flying around the Galaxy to find and destroy Snoke's horcruxes?

If so, this wasn't done by design. They would just be trying to make up for a frick up at that point. Just show Rian the door and make the next trilogy good. There is no making up for wasting our chance to see Luke Skywalker kick arse one more time.

So, a massively powerful sith lord, sealed away by the Jedi or possibly dead and reanimated, returns after 1000s of years and gets killed by the most basic of force tricks.

Come on.

That isn't what I am arguing.

The plan has always been to do the next trilogy in the distant past KOTOR.

They will be able to connect KOTOR with the current saga with snoke and other ways.

I hope so. The Sith and Jedi were bad MFers back then.

Seriously. A Sith Lord from the Old Republic (a) wouldn't be tricked by such a simple trick and (b) wouldn't even put up with such a whiny bitch in the first place.

I heard a good rumor, but it's kind of debunked by him getting split in half. They guy tried to say Snoke was doing the force projection thing like Luke was doing. But when Luke did it no harm came to him. Snoke got cut in half, and was still there on the floor long after he was killed.

He may not have been a Sith Lord back then. Could have been a dark Jedi or anything really and somehow got put into a sleep

If he was important / dangerous enough to get put into a sleep for thousands of years, he isn't getting punked by someone on Kylo Ren's level.

It’s bullshite that Rian is sacrificing Episode 8’s quality of including more snoke story simply to have some juicy interest to his prequel trilogy.

I’ll never pay to see another Rian Johnson film.
I will in fact bootleg view his trilogy for free.

This.

This theory doesn’t make sense. He is a nobody now.
