It's been fun watching this again and I'm glad he loves it like I did growing up.

Man, I didn't realize or maybe don't remember Kevin being such a little prick though.

Wayne is obviously a prick and he's supposed to play the a-hole brother (which he does gloriously) but Kevin is a brat sometimes. I get it, in middle school you think your supposed to overreact and be pissed off all the time but sometimes you're pulling for Winnie or Paul to punch his arse right in the face sometimes.

Just about every time Kevin had an issue, it was self inflicted.

He was a major a-hole.

Rewatched it about 10 years ago. It's such a good show, even though it rails off in quality the last couple seasons.

Kind of how it feels when you're a kid. You don't know what you're doing and now and then you frick something up. If the series was from Paul's perspective we'd probably see something similar. The writers were showing the good and the bad of being a kid in the 60's.

And yeah, Kevin could be a dick.

I believe the version that is on The Wonder Years is sung by Joe Cocker (guitar is played by Jimmy Page), but it was originally written and sung by the Beatles.

I was actually setting him up for a pithy comeback, but thanks for playing.

Now I really feel like an idiot, especially considering I say that all of the time.

Do you now identify more with the Dad when you watch it?

Kevin was certainly a prick at times but the show makers did a phenomenal job capturing the psychology in the last couple seasons

i did a rewatch about 15 years ago when i was in college and i was stunned by the amount of deja vu i felt. felt like they covered every issue from my childhood in the 80s/90s.

one episode that sticks with me was when the sister was catching grief from dad about coming in too late and the porch light being on all night, wasting electricity. episode ends with her staying out late again, porch light flicks on while a soliloquy by kevin finishes with "you can always count on your parents to leave a light on" or something like that. fought back tears on that one
