Kill off the old white guys and prop up the new female/diversity characters.

When it was announced back in 2012 that Disney had purchased Lucasfilm most fans were absolutely thrilled given how Disney had handled the MCU up to that point. The Avengers had just been released in theaters and comic book movies had never been more popular. Most people thought that Disney would bring the same love, care, and faithfulness to the characters to Star Wars.

there's still a very good argument that Disney buying star wars was great for the franchise.

Lucasfilm hadn't put out shite since the prequel trilogy and at least with Disney buying it we got TFA, Mandalorian, Andor, Rogue One, Solo, Bad Batch, Clone Wars, and at least a few good moments in Kenobi.

if Lucasfilm had retained the rights we may have gotten the sequel trilogy but we definitely wouldn't have got the rest

give me a good series over a good movie any day

No gravity to any of the characters at all
they used gravity in space to "drop" bombs before their StarCraft and junk ran out of unleaded.

How was an entire movie developed around that plot line?

fricking Disney.

I agree with you.

Honestly it was always going to be a disappointment to not have the original characters as the leads.

Of course Fisher died, and Ford has been trying to kill of Solo since ANH.

i mean, firefly already did the 'out of gas' and it only worked as a plot device because the story had nothing to do with the ship running out of gas.

SW otoh....geez. 2 hours and a hotly anticipated sequel...all of which was a story about ships being out of gas.
