The Elmwood AMC is actively tracking MP, even going so far as to pull down their kiosks under the ruse that they are “offline”.

I just checked them, they aren’t, and they are marking tickets “MP”. Couple that with the clearview AMC blocking movies from the service and I fear MP may be on borrowed time in the greater NOLA area.

Why is AMC attacking members of parliament?

MoviePass’s demise was its own fault as much as anything else.

Aside from a fantastic marketing ploy to get its name out there, the people running the show have shite the bed.

Are you saying they have a person by the kiosks turning them off every time someone pulls out a moviepass card?

What does this mark do? Is the guy that tears it in half going to punch me in the nuts or something?

AMC started their own version of Movie Pass called AMC Stubs A-List and TBH it seems like a way better deal.

You can book shows online, you get up to 3 movies a week, and there is none of the garbage where you can't use it on a 3D movie or a big summer tent pole flick. (though there are some limits on foreign flicks and special one time events)

Not sure what the benefit of booking a show online is. And how is 3 movies per week versus 7 movies per work a pro for AMC? Also, you can now select 3D movies for MP.

Most of my theaters have reserved seating now. It's much more convenient booking online vs driving to the theater to buy the ticket if you want to select a good seat for a popular movie.

Picking your seat ahead of time >>>> hoping there are good seats when you get there. I can show up in the middle of the previews and still be dead center of the theater by booking online.

They're under orders to mark the "MP" on the tickets to track them on their end, and they know not to assign Stubs Reward points to the ticket purchase, (per the Stubs ToS, Sept. 2017).

Our AMC in NW Atlanta suburbs was doing that back last November. We haven't had issues using the kiosks, but it's no secret that AMC has been encouraging local GMs to be all but openly hostile to MP cardholders.

Think it really varies on where you live. We’ve had MoviePass since March and use a theater that also has reserve seating that we pick when we check in at the theater. Only time we have ever had an issue was when Incredibles 2 came out and everyone apparently had the same idea to skip church on Sunday and see it. We’ve seen a ton of movies with it in 4 months and never had any issues whereas we used to maybe go to 3 or 4 movies a year in theaters because the prices just weren’t worth it

I doubt it lives on in its current format much longer but it has been perfect on my end so far

Not sure what this could accomplish. You can still use a movie pass at th normal box

Exactly my experience. Incredibles 2 has been the only movie I've had to be patient with (waited a little over a week). Other popular movies I just skip opening weekend and I'm fine. There's always some other movie you can watch when you have MoviePass.

That being said, there are two Landmark theaters near me that play the smaller movies (American Animals, First Reformed, Leave No Trace, etc.). Landmark does e-ticketing with MoviePass, so I am able to do advanced reserved ticketing at Landmark and it is a great convenience. AMC's Stubs A-List plan is very well designed but MoviePass is still the better deal for me. I am enjoying it while I can.

Never had an issue with this, but then again, I don't typically go on Friday and Saturday evenings, and I'm not married to seating so long as I don't have to sit on the floor area.

Can you please clarify if the ticket has MP printed on it or are they pulling our a Sharpie and writing "MP" on the ticket...

Since you only use the ticket to enter the theater, I fail to see the benefit of writing MP, unless it's to keep people from asking for a cash refund and pocketing the cash.

If MP is automatically printed on the ticket, they're just tracking how many MoviePass customers they have (which is useful for their new Stubs Premiere venture).

And for the love of God, spell out everything in your subject post so that we know what the frick the thread is about. You're not impressing anyone with your homemade jargon.
