I cant wait to see how they are going to handle the movie.
Per Wiki, they are setting the bar pretty high:

Film adaptation
After a bidding war with Leonardo DiCaprio's production company Appian Way, Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment secured the screen rights to the novel in 2007.[28] The screenplay was written by Babylon 5 and Rising Stars creator J. Michael Straczynski, who identified the challenge in adapting the work as "creating a main character out of a book that reads as a UN Report on the zombie wars".[29] Marc Forster signed on to direct, and described the film as reminiscent of 1970s conspiracy thrillers like All the President's Men.[30] Straczynski, however, identified 2002 spy film The Bourne Identity as an appropriate comparison, and noted that the film will have a large international scope which maintains the political emphasis.[31]
When asked about his involvement with the film, Brooks stated that he had "zero control", but favored a role for Brad Pitt,[1] and expressed approval for Straczynski as screenwriter.[32][33] In an interview with Fangoria, Brooks said, "I can’t give it away, but Straczynski found a way to tie it all together. The last draft I read was amazing."[34] Despite his lack of artistic control, Brooks did say that the movie "has to be epic ... and if it isn't the Lord of the Rings of zombie movies, I don't want to see it get made."[35]
An early script was leaked onto the internet in 2008. Ain't It Cool News reviewed the script on March 27, 2008, and said "This isn’t just a good adaptation of a difficult book ... it’s a genre-defining piece of work that could well see us all arguing about whether or not a zombie movie qualifies as 'Best Picture' material".[36] The review also noted the film appears stylistically similar to Children of Men.[36] According to Ain't It Cool News, the film follows Gerry Lane as he travels the post-war world and interviews survivors of the zombie war who are "starting to wonder if survival is a victory of any kind." One of the first interviews is with Dr. Tsai, the first to encounter the zombies.[36]
Straczynski had hoped that the film would begin production by the start of 2009.[31] Forster, however, told IGN on March 6, 2009 that the script was still in development and he was not sure if World War Z would be his next film.[37] On March 20, 2009, rumors surfaced that production offices were set up and the film was in early pre-production.[38] In June 2009, Marc Forster told an interviewer that the film would be delayed, stating that the film's script still needs a lot of development and is "still far from realization".[39]
In July 2009, Brooks revealed to Fangoria that the script is currently being re-written by Matthew Michael Carnahan. Brooks believes this "shows [the producer's] confidence in this project" because of the amount of money that was being invested in it.[40] Paramount Pictures announced at the 2010 Comic-Con that Forster is set as director, and Brad Pitt has been confirmed to play the lead role.[41]

I am so pumped for this movie, I can't wait. To answer your question MJC, I was going to join the Marines back in 2007 but my two best friends who are a year older than me and a grade above me failed their freshman year of LSU and joined. After a year they begged me not to join and made me swear to stick to engineering. Also with our current president and several conspiracy theories I wonder whether my fight would be honorable so I have chosen to focus my strengths on Engineering and other causes. I often times still really want to join, and do spend a lot of time shooting guns and running tactical courses etc. I almost wish there was a real zombie apocalypse bc it would be pretty cool to sling some lead into "live" moving targets. Zombies would be the ultimate moral free war casualty for everybody's benefit.
On another note I can not believe the finale is not at least 90 minutes. They should give us 2 hours. Is it true they are playing all five episodes on Sunday?

I concur. I believe this show has a huge following all across the nation. They need to do season 2 in the spring. This thread is going to be blowing up on Sunday. It already has 25 new pages since Sunday

I definitely support the troops, but not all of them. I met this new guy at work that was national guard in Afghanistan and he said he used to shoot civ's all the time with paint ball guns and other super cruel crap. I would probably strangle one of my own if I was over there with somebody like that. Another reason I do not want to join.
We may have to do some Zombie practice shooting dude. I have a course in Braithwaite, LA in the woods. Steel targets and all. Pistol, Carbine, running, prone everything. It's awesome. We may have to talk weapon and gear selection for Z day on this thread.

Yeah I worked for a pretty notorious firm that I'm not gonna mention but I will say they are no longer in Iraq and they had to change their name if that gives you a clue. We had a bad reputation but my team was great. All stand up guys and we had some good leaders that I learned a lot from. We just did our job and did it with the utmost integrity. We were actually trying to help and when bad situations happened we tried our best to minimize them. Others that worked with us I can't say they played by those rules and it made me fricking sick. But War changes some men and it brings the worst out of some that are already bad apples with itchy trigger fingers. I was fortunate to work this Class A guys though. I want these cats to roll with us when Z-day pops off. But there were a lot that only went there to drop as many Haji's as possible. Sick fricks. In the post apocalyptic world, these are the ones you have to fear more than the walkers. And some of them are such hard men, they'd most likely survive the longest, not a good thing.

Blackwater=Xe services. Ya definitely the largest most notorious mercenary firm in the world. But if you work/worked for them than I want you on my Zombie killing squad!!! Are you just an Operator or what?

I change my stance I want on your team.
As long as I can opt out of the napalm and bombing strikes.

yeah

there was a misconception that you had to have years of operating experience and in a lot of cases this was true. Most team leaders on the PSD teams were former spooks from all branches. A lot of Marines and Army Rangers too. But there were a lot of police officers and guys that were experts in close quarter combat that didn't necessarily have the operator background. I got in because of my MO in the airforce, it was combat oriented and I have great land navigation skills and knowledge in demolition. I worked for a special training contractor at a military base immediately after being released from the chair force where I learned a lot about close quarters combat and we played terrorist to help train pretty much anyone from SWAT teams to just about every infantry/airborne force in the army. My boss was a former Marine Force Recon O-1 or 2nd LT. He served in Somalia during black hawk down and spent years in the Balkans and he took me under his wing. He went to Jordan just before the invasion to start setting up shop for Blackwater at the time and he gave me a call in 2004 and got me in. I was one of the least combat experienced guys there but it wasn't hard to learn given the shite that was happening in the summer of 04. That's when IED's and VBIEDS were becoming very prominent and I'd been training with IED's back home getting the 101'st and 10th mountain ready to go over. Once he called, I didn't hesitate. Took a few brush up classes in defensive driving, offensive driving, mini SERE school(nothing like special ops does, just a condensed course) and got my shooting game up to par and I was there.
ETA: sorry for the hi-jack. But to kind of remain on topic, I can get you guys anywhere in the world with a compass and a shitty map. And I can rig up some nice boom boxes. Other than that I'm pretty average. I can shoot ok, but I need my glasses now to see a lot better and I don't hear as good as I used to, damn near deaf out of one ear. But I have a strong sense of smell to overcompensate. I used to have a pretty decent boxing game but I don't think you want to do that with a zombie. And I know a little bit about most weapons that have been around for the past 40 years or so, so if we were scavenging I could help make something out of nothing there. But I suck at mechanicing and don't know shite about machinery.

Sorry Cokes.
but in the spirit of this, we should all toot our own horns for a minute and sell yourself on what you'd be best at and what you'd bring to the group.
and Go!

I'd be good at typical guy shite, except for things like mechanics and stuff. I'm also a good mediator and am good at calming people down and being rational.
Also, I'm really fricking smart.

You are a wild gamer too right? I mean decent at hunting and fishing? That would come in super handy.

- great with all sorts of technology, (specifically with computers and networking)
- peak physical condition(not quite OT standard athlete tho)
- my mom tells me i'm handsome. (great asset for repopulating the earth.)
- i've been told quite often that i am a heartless bastard.
- i'm not a picky eater
- i was beat profusely as a child, so my feelings don't get hurt often.
