What did he turn into in that trailer?

Looks like what he turns into in Super Mario Wonder, which is easily one of the best side scrolling games in the series.

So you're saying I should try and complete it?

There's a Galaxy + Galaxy 2 remaster on Switch 2 that just came out.

Galaxy IMO is the best 3D Mario game

Mario 64 is the GOAT video game for me.

Very excited about this. I bought the Galaxy 1 and Galaxy 2 bundle a few weeks ago and am currently playing through them again. I hope the score for this movie is on par with the games

Agreed. The physics, the score, the gameplay are all top notch.

I'm all for turning this into a 3D Mario debate. It may be because I have only played Galaxy on the Mario 3D All-Stars Switch version, but I am not a big fan. The motion controls are very awkward (especially having to click stars to drift through space), and some of the sphere action makes me feel a little sick.

My vote is Mario Odyssey. It's such a fun game that brings a smile to my face whenever I play. Also, it does a great job of blending in some 2D Mario.

I wasn't a huge Mario 64 fan at the time (my N64 was a Shadows of the Empire/Rogue Squadron machine, almost exclusively), but I'd love to see a Mario 64 remake with the Odyssey engine.

Doesn't hold up. The controls are jarring to go back to. I wish they'd come out with a version with a modern control scheme.

The camera is real bad too. It was awesome back in the day. Nintendo could easily make a fantastic version of this game that would be playable today without even having to do a full remaster.

My son is 2 and a half. Been playing him the first one non stop for 2 months. He will be about 2 months shy of 3. I am sneakily plotting a random Tuesday afternoon or whatever early showing to bring him to this. May be a disaster but we will see

Yep. SM64 was breathtaking for its time. It changed 3D gaming, but it was so far ahead of its time that it doesn’t hold up as well as other Mario games.

Galaxy (play without motion controls) is the perfection of Mario 3D set in motion by 64.

That's why I would love to see it done like Odyssey.

April 2026? Feels like a relatively quick turnaround for something like this

3 years? Hell they could make 7-8 just from the ideas they tossed around for the first one that they didn’t have time for.

The 4 games they leaned heavily on for this one are Galaxy, Sunshine, Wonder, and Odyssey.
