The Ancients go out of there way to make sure that anyone they feed on is killed. They do not want more vampires. To them being a vampire is a gift and the worms are sacred. The master wants to take over the world and he is making vampires to do so.
The show I'm sure will delve into this more as the books did.
Quinlan has no worms and people he drinks from cannot be turned. The ancients have kept the number of vampire small.

Yeah, he wasn't nearly as terrible in this episode. That said, the scene with the councilwoman coming back to the checkpoint with the citizens was pretty bad.
It's also kind of funny how the main strigoi characters always avoid major injury. Fet had a clean shot at mommy dearest and hit her in the arm. If that was an irrelevant strigoi, he would have taken the head clean off with that shot. At least Eichorst was kind of believable as he was actively doing his best Boris the Bullet Dodger.

The scenes with council woman were extremely cheesy and I like cheesy most of the time.

If i were to start reading the books, would this shitty show have spoiled anything for me? I've watched all of season 1 and 3 episodes of season 2.
Acting is terrible. The woman doctor is a worse version of lori, and the kid (especially with the new actor) is a little a-hole that needs to get eaten.
I keep watching it, but it's really getting on my nerves. It's reminding me of The Following on Fox.

I like The Strain, but you lost all credibility by liking The Following. We had episode threads on here for the sole purpose of mocking that show.

clearly this has been happening for centuries, if not millenia. there should be more vampires around. he easily turned 200+ on the plane and they can easily multiply that. somehow his vampire army is always stopped but not him?

3 I believe. And I thought the episode was shite. They aren't staying anywhere true to the books, all these pointless side stories are crap. I am disapointed with the way this season has gone. I hope they get into the good shite in the last few episodes.
