Howard Stern recommended it on his show. I know he is not a movie critic, but I have not been disappointed with his recommendations. Put the reminder in at Red Box.

Just saw this last night. I though it was a great movie. One of the best of 2012. And yeah I may be a sucker for coming of age movies. I thought the lead actor did an amazing job.

I enjoyed it as well. Very well acted by the whole cast. The kid that plays Charlie has a big future ahead of him.

Solid flick. Depressing because it highlights some heavy stuff. But ultimately a happy ending

I don't know whether the movie is just really depressing or it's so good that you can't stop thinking about it.

Spoilers below.

You want to see that ending as a happy one, but then I realize that he is going to be all alone again when he goes back to school and has he really turned the corner to being able to make new friends and not be a loner again.
I think it was a great movie, just incredibly heavy material as you stated

We watched it last night as a Netflix rental. Solid cast and they all did a great job. One of the best movies of a very good year. It all was very familiar since it turns out the author went to the same high school I did, but 15 years later. Charlie as a HS freshman did more than any of my friends or I did in our 4 years there but that's Hollywood and our lives would have made a very boring movie.

Logan Lerman is going to be a star. He's extremely talented.

I watched it yesterday. The story is set in Pittsburgh and that's where I'm from. I didn't care for it because I didn't feel that it captured the essence (accents, etc.) of Pittsburgh at all. But since you're not from there, you'll probably like it.

What difference does it make? I don't think it ever was mentioned where they were.

Great adaptation of the book and soundtrack was great. Only thing that would've made it better is if JGL was his teacher.

That soundtrack was damn good. Story line was kinda depressing with the...well, I wont spoil it but if you have seen it then you know it gets a lil weird. Other than that, solid arse mofie.
