"Over the course of writing the season, we discussed many times whether or not there might be some cross-through that would feel earned," Reeves tells EW in a separate interview about referencing Pattinson's Batman. "We tried a few different ideas conceptually, nothing that was ever written ultimately, but nothing seemed to quite gel in a way that felt earned." One idea they toyed with was having Bruce Wayne appear before Vic (Rhenzy Feliz), Oz's righthand guy. "But even that ended up throwing things off too much," the filmmaker adds.
"We wanted our characters to be the predominant people that you're following in this show," LeFranc explains. "Anything that started to detract from that wasn't servicing the type of show we wanted to do."

But the ending signals — quite literally, in fact — that the game isn't over. While in her Arkham cell, Sofia receives a letter from Selina Kyle, Zoë Kravitz's Catwoman of Reeves' The Batman. She hopes to connect, acknowledging that both of them are half sisters. Jayme Lawson also reprises her role of Gotham City's new mayor, Bella Reál, for a brief appearance on the show. Then, in the final shot of the hour, as Oz dances with Eve Karlo (Carmen Ejogo), who's dressed as his mother, the Bat Signal blazes in the night sky in the distance. Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight will soon join the fray.
quote:
"We are, in a very preliminary way — me, Lauren, [Reeves' producing partner] Dylan [Clark], and Colin — starting to talk about what would be the way," the director confirms. "For me, what's really important is that we earn it. The idea of revisiting means that we have to keep that same bar. I know that none of us wants to go back and just do more. We want to go back and do something great. So that's what we're talking about now. We do believe that there's going to be something in there, but it's just beginning. It's exciting though. It's very gratifying."

Not sure what we'll get next in this universe. Joker is supposedly in the running, we know that Catwoman's ties to Sofia are now in the mix. The main hurdle that I see is that whatever the focus, it won't have that extra draw that the series enjoyed with the Penguin prosthetics. It really lifted it to a higher level, knowing that Farrell was under there turning a handicap into an amazing performance.
Farrell, his makeup team, and Milioti set the bar ridiculously high.

Great final scene with the whore cosplaying as his mom.
Definitely called Vic's end once i saw them alone outside.
I thought she was going out that window.
and I was literally thinking to myself "man, I'm struggling to see Vic in the next Batman movie alongside Penguin" and then boom

Hush or the Court of Owls would be my wish

No probably about it. He’s the devil by the end. There are tons of allusions to it throughout the series, some, in retrospect, were very in your face. It was a very literary series, which I’m a huge nerd for. There was a ton of Dante (Inferno) and Milton (Paradise Lost) in there. Like most literary works that deal with the devil/hell.

Are they referring to the drapes resembling owls? Because that's not a courtroom and the point of the scene seemed to be Oswald wanting to be accepted into politics as he toyed with the Mayor's chair and gavel.

Yes, I'm sure it's nonsense but still pretty cool when you see the owls

“I know, it’s everything you wanted,” to his mother. He did not pull the plug, as promised. Good stuff.

Was this show worth watching? I’ve purposefully stayed away from reviews, and this thread, until the show ended so I could just binge it. Did the board enjoy it?

Is it set up for a second season, or was this supposed to be a miniseries?

It's a limited series, but they're considering season 2 since it looks like it's a success for hbo.

As some have said, holy hell at how this series unfolded. It really did feel like they were gonna make him a sympathetic character. I’m not a huge Batman guy so I know of Penguin but didn’t know if he was considered like a half villain / half hero so it was believable how they set him up, but holy shite at that ending. The last two episodes really as they showed him killing his brothers.
Man it’s so frustrating watching something like this and then thinking what a proper Anikan into Darth Vader storyline could’ve been. I know in the hands of someone like Disney and for something as expensive as Star Wars that they couldn’t do it this well and this dark, but fvck it could’ve been incredible.

Man what a great show.
I know everyone kept saying he was going to turn on Vic but I just didn’t think it would happen. Can’t believe he did it.
Excellent job creating an unlikeable true villain.

Reading up on it, when he told him he was like a brother to him, I should have seen it coming
