Sofia is a damn smokeshow
Posted on 10/20/24 at 10:32 pm to scottydoesntknow
Damn this is such a good frickin show...
Also , I feel like the Sofia story is the Harley Quinn story we deserved as opposed to what we got .
Apparently some of you idiots missed the point.. Sofia is relatively a nobody within this universe and they made her into and absolute outstanding character this is how know good writing has occurred..
On the other hand you have one the most recognizable female villains in the universe and outside of the animation every thing else Harley appears in is hot garbage..
I was only simply stating that if these writers can bring to life such a virtual no name it makes you wonder what could be done with an established one .. But maybe that's the beauty of this character as well . A new lease on life in the universe..
Regardless as I stated before the show is absolutely fantastic

When the trolley tunnel lit up…goosebumps.

I didn’t think much of it. I had just thought about those same tunnels are where the bat cave is.
But I see the nod now.

When the trolley tunnel lit up…goosebumps.
But, yeah, I never expected this big of an homage to Burton and Devito.

It’s also the same tunnel system that connects to the Batcave.

First thing I thought was will he stumble onto something that lets him know the Bat is down there.

Linking the story to the tunnels connected to Batman is the end goal. The reasoning behind going in the tunnels to grow the mushrooms in the best possible environment shows you the writers know what they are doing.

I love that he’s isn’t getting the anti hero treatment. He’s a villain and has a villain’s arc, but with that said he is a human and is complex, especially with his mom and with Vic. It’s so well written

Reading the last few pages of y’all arguing over which “team” to be on/for—and there are arguments for, and certainly against, both—reminds me of how bad of a job HOD did on setting up the Greens vs the Blacks in Season 2. I think they wanted to make it much more even, but everybody was on Team Black the whole time.
Also, lots of subtle allusions/symbolism/homages to GOT/HOD so far, but not heavy-handed. Just clever nods to the battle and struggle for power being ubiquitous in any time in any genre. The writing really is fantastic in this show. Oz set a a mother and son on fire in this episode and watched them burn alive in some sort of satisfying, almost glee, and we still don’t hate him. I think Colin Farrell deserves a good bit of credit for that, too, though.

Really wasn’t trying to argue with him just provide some context he may have missed. Whichever character you wanna pull for there are plenty of reasons to do so. Agree with you last statements and it’s been a great show so far but this week got a little off the rails and cartoonish imo. Weakest episode by far.

Oh, I know. I just piggybacked off your post because you were the last that I saw participating in the discussion. It wasn’t a criticism at all. I think you’ve got the most similar take on it as I do.

What did you think of the last 2 eps?

Not enough time for all my thoughts, but I agree with you that 5 was much weaker than 4, which was probably my favorite of the season. But I still liked 5. Like some great shows, the worst episode of the season is usually better than the best of most other shows. I’ll give my more detailed opinions tomorrow, but I think our thinkings are pretty similar.

Man this show has been awesome.
The show is “the Penguin” yet Sofia and Vic are probably more liked than the main character, and no one is complaining or talking about DEI shite b/c it’s great writing and acting all around.
Take notes Disney marvel and Star Wars.

Well yes, mostly the writing has been great. Couple things though, Carmine wanted her to take over for him because they’re alike yet she doesn’t even know what the business is, not even a clue. That makes no sense at all. Then last episode the cop knows she killed her family, everyone knows she did. Her only alibi is Johnny Vitti, she fricking kills him and essentially announces her guilt to the police. Pretty stupid and very out of sync with every other thing in the show. Lastly her takeover of the family. They’re a crime family and anybody who knows OC at all knows it’s not 3 bosses and everyone else expendable street thugs. For a family that powerful there’s a network of people at several levels and there’s big money at stake. You can’t just kill a couple people and that’s that. They could’ve had it make sense if she’d have made the alliance with Maroni first but they didn’t and it was silly.
