That’s way too much exposition for the ending of a movie. It comes off like the main character of a procedural drama wrapping up a show at the end of an episode

Makes sense when you think about the fact that if she really wanted to lose she always could have just traded away the guys who were playing well and brought up scrubs from the minors.

I just need a version where it shows her tits on that life-size cutout.

This deleted scene does address why she wouldn't just send players down to the minors to further try and tank the team. But it also opens the rather large problem that if she was such a big fan of the team and also such an extraordinarily gifted talent scout then why the hell did she sit back for years and let her dying husband run the team into bankruptcy and shittiness to begin with? That would have been stupid.

Because who the frick would have listened to the wife of the owner?

I'm assuming by her saying "Go get em tonight" that this would have been before the final game against the Yankees? It would have killed all the tension for the final game. There's no consequences for losing except that the season is over. Glad that was left out.

Yeah that would've been a terrible ending. She was a great villain in the movie, and turning her at the end would've felt cheap and stupid.

This scene would have undone several classic scenes from the movie. The best being in the final game, Vaughn comes out of the bullpen, and Wild Thing starts blaring.

That looks like an audition tape.

Glad they didn't use this. Margaret Whitton (RIP) nailed the villainousness of the role.

I think I both like the scene but also am glad they didn't keep it.

quote:You mean other than every player or coach who she would have been duping into doing what she wanted? The character would have been fundamentally changed if this scene was in the movie. If she was a super-smart manipulator trying to build a winning team on a budget instead of just a gold-digging ex-model trying to move the team, she could have just manipulated her husband into not sucking as an owner before running the team into near bankruptcy.
Because who the frick would have listened to the wife of the owner?

Liked her much better as the Evil Bitch

Makes sense why they didn't include it. She's not supposed to be likeable. Having her character do a 180 at the end is stupid.
