The tank beetle melting the soldiers was disturbing as hell.

Any clue where I can find it?

Lt Jean Rasczak: Rico, you once asked me for advice. You want some now?

Cpl John Rico: Yes, sir!

Lt Jean Rasczak: [glancing over at Dizzy, dancing with another soldier] Never pass up a good thing!

One of my all time favorites! I still don’t understand why they sent so many mobile infantry soldiers on the bug planet to die? Why not just use more nukes, air strikes and artillery?

love the movie but the tactics and weaponry absolutely suck. Hell, the Russians in Stalingrad had better tactics.

For me, it's one of the best film examples of the audience perception of characters changing over time.
Specifically, of the average girl becoming super hot, and the super hot girl becoming average.

Hubris.

The book is an argument for totalitarianism and fascism as a working government.

But it's really not and the author liked making books about awful ways to run things presented as we should run it this way.

The book leans harder on Rico's teacher Veteran MI who would show up at recruitment drives sans his prosecthetic limbs to show the kids you really, really don't want this.

That’s a huge point of the movie. They could have easily bombed away the aliens. But they wanted the stigma they were fighting an awful enemy.

This movie is a huge satire on the military industrial complex.

They don’t care if people die as long as it continues the conflict.

It's a fun movie for sure, but is so loosely based on the actual Henlein novel it's almost a completely different story.

It's on TV now and rewatching it for the first time in a while. Two things: 1) seems like some video games ripped it off and 2) what would this movie be like if made today?
