Why do I feel like the FBI woman is really the old man's daughter?

I got the same feeling but figured that would be way too easy. Can't wait to find out what he did to back-stab the warlord.

Alia Shawkat

has some NOLA ties

Her great-great-grandfather, Martin P. Burke, was a New Orleans policeman in 1898.
Her great-grandfather, Martin Burke, was a boxer who fought Gene Tunney and sparred with Jack Dempsey. Later, he and his wife owned a string of nightclubs in the New Orleans French Quarter.

Holy hell. That “scene” with the cops at the checkpoint threw us for a loop.

This was especially true given we were early in his character development when you wouldn't question it nearly as much as later in the series when his character was fleshed out more. My wife and I were both like holy shite this dude is a LOT different than we expected.

Fell in love and ran away with his daughter perhaps? Maybe started a family with her?

His daughter or maybe one of his wives. Either way this show is fantastic.

Lol at the guy who doesn't understand why the woman was attracted to Dan/Johnny.

Watched the first 2 tonight and really enjoyed. I went in blind and especially liked how they sucked you into thinking it was going to be slow in the first 10-15 and BAM! This seems to have a lot of potential. Hope it stays good.

Last time that happened, the warlord threw the daughter in a pit and it resulted in Gotham ended up getting it’s shite pushed in.

In case anyone missed it, the arc of Season 1 can be summarized like this:
