I hated the Margot Kidder as Lois. The Lois in Man of Steel is the best of the three. This actor playing Superman was the best of the three too.

Word.

She was not hot at all. I don't know WTF they were thinking casting her back in the '79. Not to mention she was way too corny sometimes, even more campy than Supes and that's saying something.

Amy Adams is good as lois and you can't go wrong with her at all. But, the best Lois Lane ever was Erica Durance from Smallville. She was the quintessential Lois Lane.

This is who I'm talking about.

wife and I saw it last night and absolutely loved it. I had no expectations going into it, I've never been much of a fan of superman, but I was highly entertained by this version of the character.

minor complaint for me were the action scenes sometimes were a bit too overwhelming, a lot of carnage and explosions made it hard to really know what was going on. But it's a minor complaint and didn't take away from my viewing experience. This was a very good film.

Just got out of it and liked it. I will be interested to see where they go with this. One thing I noticed: The chambers that took Zod to the phantom zone look liked black dildos with balls.

That's right were going Hollywood at Tech.

Tech is playing Kansas Sept. 21 at Lawrence. I'm hoping to make that game.

As for the atmosphere, Zod's ship had the same type of atmosphere that Krypton had. He was use to it, but Kal-El wasn't because he grew up on Earth with a different atmosphere. That's why his body had to adjust to the atmosphere and why when Zod landed on Earth, he either wore that little helmet thing or had those little freak outs like Kal did when he was young.

Yes I know.

The lack of atmosphere was pretty clearly not a problem for either one of them.

....Uh... Yes I know. That's what I said. That was the whole point of what I said. It makes no sense that certain atmospheric conditions can expose a weakness but a lack of atmosphere altogether is perfectly fine. So they don't need to breathe but if they breathe stuff that's slightly different than what they're used to, they lose their power? No. That's retarded.

Neither of them had power in Krypton's atmosphere. Earth's environment is what gave them their abilities. Our Sun gives them these extra abilities. Our strong atmosphere allows them to consume more of that powerful solar radiation. Our weaker gravity allows them the ability to fly.

How do not understand this?

Superman: Cavill was perfect.

Costume: Sucked. No need for it to be that dark. This movie needed color so badly. He's not the Dark Knight, he's Superman.

Lois: Written perfectly, performed well.

Perry White:
Good job. (Though the black guy sitting next to me had to make a remark every time Fishburne was on screen. "I get it, he looks like you. Get over it. You don't hear me squeeling with delight every time they show a fat old white guy in a movie.")

Ma Kent:
Perfect

Pa Kent:
Lacked the conviction and world view of the Jonathon Kent of the comics. Nice, loving dad, but a bit of a schlimazel.

Jor-El: Part Action-Hero, part Basil Exposition. Good job, but ever since Donner expanded the role of Jor-el in Superman's life so that Brando could get screen time, he's eclipsed the Pa Kent character. A big loss in my book.

Lara: Good job. She never gets much screen time. (Why didn't they punish her for shooting the codex into space? Wouldn't that be a pretty major crime on Krypton?)

Pete Ross: (Yes, Pete Ross). A bit of a doufus, but I grew to like the small role he played. A nice shout-out to the character's role in the comics as Clark's one true Smallville friend.

Steve Lombard: Classic Steve. Can't wait till he starts using Clark as the Dwight Shrute of the office.

Action: They out-marveled Marvel. Let's see the Hulk cause that much destruction.

Realism: Most real superhero movie that involved a hero with super-powers.

Overall: Best Snyder film to date. I hate the decision to have Pa Kent commit suicide and for Superman to become the Punisher at the end of the movie, but the movie as a whole is great.

I actually liked the costume change. More organic, less camp.

I though General Zod was AMAZING. They made him and Supes Dad a Beast and the fight scenes were incredible. They found new ways to keep the fighting interesting and Superman was kept at a level of vulnerability for a lot of the fight scenes to keep it interesting, which was vital for the movies success. Every scene on Krypton was money and i loved the way they made the story their own

I went into the movie with fairly low expectations because of the rotten tomatoes reviews but I did like aspects about it. The special effects were incredible. The fight scenes and scenes on krypton were good. I think Zack Snyder has found his calling in science fiction. He has no place shitting on the pelponessian war by making a horrible movie like 300. That being said, I could appreciate it for what it was: a popcorn flick but a pretty good popcorn flick. Definitely kept me on the edge of my seat at times. General Zod definitely made the movie. I think a weak villain is what the other superman movies were lacking. It was definitely better than that crap superman 2. I don't really like Zack Snyder, but I always think his films are interesting and aesthetically pleasting.

Terraforming outpost ship. They sent them to a ton of planets. It's how Jor-el and Lara had intel on Earth in the first place.

If I'm not mistaken, it was an abandoned scout ship. They had been sent to different planets.
