I hope Freeza gets the shite beaten out of him by Hit or a Pride Trooper. I can see him attacking Hit like a wild bull and then getting beat down like Vegeta

So I just started Super last week, and I'm on episode 84. Goku is psychotic, right? What happened to him? He always loved fighting but damn, he seems totally OK with having endangered a dozen universes in his bid to satiate his blood lust. And watching with English subs is fine, except for Goku's voice. Christ he's annoying. His high pitched voice and little "hengh-hengh!" laugh is so goddamned off-putting. Honestly, if he wasn't the main character would anyone like him?

He didn't endanger them. If anything, his actions means 1 will get saved.

Zeno was going to destroy 8 universes as their average level* was too low. 4 Universes are exempt from both the tournament, and that destruction. The tournament means 1 universe will be able to survive afterwards.

*Of note, power level isn't what Zeno is going by. If I remember right, its more like some sort of morality level.

The episodes average 24 minutes, 21 after you take out the OP and EP. That's a frickton of DBS in a week. Not that I haven't done the same. I finished the 149 episodes of Hunter X Hunter in a week.

Jiren was so badass. Goku looked so shook.

He looked shook, then he looked excited as Frick at the end. Can't wait for next Saturday!

Agreed...as shaky as thesome of the last few episodes have been, the tournament looks to be incredible. Jiren seemed so damn badass and seeing Hit again was awesome. There's so much to look forward to.

I don't understand though how they are going to stretch this tournament out over the weeks. It's a battle royale right? Wouldn't it be over relatively quickly

In the Namek Saga 5 minutes took like 15 episodes. They will drag this out like 10 episodes at the least imo.

Also I can't wait to see Caulifla get wrecked in the ToP. She can't sense ki and doesn't understand how strong u7 and u11 are

Yep the tournament is definitely on Namek time.

20 minutes episode = 1 minute into the tournament

What the frick was Gohan doing? Tien uses a solar flare, Piccolo launches his Special Beam Cannon, Krillin gets off a destructo disk, Roshi launches a kamehameha, and Gohan shoots a generic ki blast. Generic Ki blasts never do any damage in Dragon Ball.

Aside from the fact you stated about never doing any damage, I think his generic blasts are basically as strong r stronger than all of those guys special moves except maybe Piccolo. Those two are really going to have eto carry that group.

It just irks me.

I can understand Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza ditching Gohan's plan but why did the Androids? Especially 18. It seems like they would have done a lot to raise the survivability of Gohan's group.

I thought the same thing, but they were created to destroy. They love this thing as much as Goku and Freiza.

The interesting thing they said in the episode is that you have to be knocked out of the ring to be eliminated. Being incapacitated or unconscious is not enough to eliminate you.

Yamcha would have been perfect for this tournament.

Looking forward to seeing Kale go female Broly. This is one hell of an ambitious undertaking for the series but I guess another arc of 1v1 or the group versus a big bad was going to be stale. It's fun to watch but ~20 minutes just isn't enough each week to keep track of what Vegeta, Frieza, the Androids, Gohan, and Goku are all doing. Plus, I want to see how the Trio de Dangres are eliminated, as well as Toppo and Universe 6. Just so many things going on with this kind of format and while it should make for engaging episodes, it's going to take a while to sort it all out.

I've seen some supposed spoilers on how it all ends. Anyone else seen the same?

This. We've waited a long time for this tournament to get started. Last night's episode was a letdown imo. It was decent, but I figured they would want to kick this thing off with a bang.

If there was my DVR didn't record it.

Speaking of which, how is the English dub going to account for Goku's apparent reversion back to ignorant kid-like Goku that we're seeing with the Black and Universal Survival arcs? The original Japanese version can make it work with the voice acting givien the higher pitched female voice (still annoying as hell, but I digress) but I feel like they're going to need to re imagine some of the lines from the english sub version to keep the character consistent with the more serious, masculine sound he has in the english dub.
