There will be two criteria considered when they pick the next Bond:
1) he will be a relative unknown, possibly a stage actor.
2) He will be at least 35 years old.
Why? Albert Broccoli always preferred relative unknowns to play Bond, so their celebrity wouldn't overshadow the role. Broccoli's heirs will follow his vision.
And the age limit? Broccoli decided this was the way to go when Timothy Dalton turned him down for Live and Let Die, saying that "Bond should be at least 35 years-old." Broccoli saw that he was right.

True. But isn't Skyfall the last MGM Bond? That may change their requirements.

Agreed. I'm thinking 5-6 years out on this. Jackman, Bale and Pearce were all on the list with Craig though. Their more recent success may have pushed them out.

But seriously, I'm a non-PC type of guy, but why does Bond have to be some white dude?
Remember when people freaked out about Craig because he was blonde? Dude is a good Bond.
I wouldn't care, and I think Idris Elba would be awesome in that role. Completely awesome. I don't know if he would be inclined to do it just because of the shear amount of shite he would get though.

MGM doesn't own Bond. Broccoli family does. They have stated they will honor his wishes.

If we are going to change everything to M being a woman and now Bond is black, why can't we have an American???
You really pigeon-hole yourself trying to find an English actor capable enough...the greatest Bond was Scottish and people here are pimping Aussies! I'm sure Brits really like being interchanged with what they believe are "hillbillys from Horstrayllia."
So why the F not Jon Hamm??? I want my Bond back to being like Don mother-frickin' Draper...hard drinking, hard smoking, self-centered womanizer who broods and doesn't trust anything or anyone.
I want the Bond of the books reclaimed from this Bourne Identity bastardization of Bond.

I'm really not pushing for a black Bond, I'm just saying that it doesn't matter what race Bond is if they find the right guy.
Tom Hardy or Michael Fassbender would be my ideal guys.
I 100% do think it matters on the British/British colony thing though. That is definitely part of his identity.
