I'm not going to link to the article and give them clicks but they basically want Criterion Collection cancelled because they feel they haven't released enough movies directed by blacks.

Lily white art-house filmmakers are limousine liberals? Why I do declare!
99% of US films from 1900-1990 were directed by white men.
99% of European films from 1900-1990 were directed by white men.
99% of Asian films from 1900-1990 were directed by Asian men.
Africa has a very small film scene even today, miniscule by the standards of the 3 regions above. So, globally, it makes sense for black filmmakers to be underrepresented.
Domestically, corporate filmmaking is usually a hobby of the fabulously wealthy or their kids or their girlfriends. If you aren't already in the club, you don't get to join the club.

This is yet another false narrative.
There are as many movies being made by blacks as there needs to be. Because no one is denying them the rights, means or access , what so ever.

In such an expansive catalog, encompassing films from more than 40 countries, the relative absence of African-American filmmakers stands out. There are, for example, more directors in the Criterion Collection with the last name Anderson than there are African-Americans.

That's fantastic! I'm really proud of you. You overcame great adversity and made the sacrifice. Keep up the good work.
