Yeah but the first one is the one you should have if you only bought one. The second one from what I remembered..was kinda meh. Mostly scores from the movie with a couple of songs.

That's only because you were all up in the Siesta, or depending on age maybe Freddie's on Wednesday and Thursday.

I thought it was weird that the chick, who is british, faked an American accent.

Eve Hewson, who is Irish, was cast as a British noblewoman, but chose to do an American accent.

I wasn't a fan of how they portrayed Marian. She was a thief as well as an adultress, since she carried on a love affair with Robin while engaged to Will Scarlett. I guess they were too "edgy" to call her Maid Marian or even Lady Marian.

why do people make "modern" period pieces like this?

When it works, it really works. Like already mentioned Romeo + Juliet and A Knight’s Tale comes to mind.

But when it doesn’t, it’s steaming hot shite. It’s just one of those production techniques that is either really on or really off, if that makes sense.

This is why.

Yep. A really well done movie with a great cast, script, and director breeds hideous attempts to lazily recreate its success. Tail as old as time.

i didn't see that one. was it also "modern"?

They butchered the origin story (giving Uther an evil brother, having Arthur raised my prostitutes, making Guinevere a witch, etc.), but at least the costumes and battle armor looked to be reasonably accurate for the period.

An interesting fact is that in the sequel, which has since been abandoned, Rebecca Ferguson was slated to play Arthur's evil sister Morgana. I'm not sure how they would've worked her into the plot though since there was no mention at all of her in the first movie. When the sequel was scrapped, she signed on to play the exact same role in the movie The Kid Who Would Be King.
