Too much group think going on. Now on the down side, China did love it. We all know they have incredibly bad taste in entertainment. Like the Germans. Yet I found this film to be entertaining. The reviews were so bad and the hate shown this film actually allowed me to go in with zero expectations. I recommend watching it when you have nothing else pressing.
(Spoilers)
The ending works for me. Tom was built up as a selfish thief and shallow ladies man. His heroic rise was setup nicely.
His female love interest was cast effectively and inspires the change that came over him.
His self-sacrifice and the ending throws a twist that leaves open a sequel.
The mummy was pretty cool. Very believable.
The Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde bit was a subtle twist. Russell Crow keep us guessing as to his true nature, good or evil.
The scene where he shot his friend and his friend’s subsequent haunting reminded me of Werewolf in London. I liked the throwback.

I watched it a few months back, and while it wasn’t great, it was far from the worst movie I’ve ever seen and nowhere nearly as bad as most people make it out to be. It was a decent action movie.

Agreed it was ok. Critics were too harsh.
Makes me sad as the Dark Universe is probably dead.

It was ok, but it needed to be good to great since it was the first movie in the Dark Universe.
Where would the MCU be if Iron Man was just ok?

Brendan Fraser Mummy >>>>>>>>>>>>> Tom Cruise Mummy

Tom Cruise desperately needs to do a serious acting movie instead of being the glorified stunt man that he has become in the last decade. I was excited about the idea of Luna Park but I get the feeling it's going to be him running around or floating through space or dodging boulders on the moon or hanging off the side of a spaceship.
