But I thought your ilk only brought rational criticism to this thread.

Ohh yea, you probably done either.
You are all over the place with your comments...Maybe you should stop, breathe and think about what you are saying before you vagina bleed all over everyone.

why the Fireflies decided, surely against all sorts of dystopian protocols, to keep her alive?
quote:
This was covered in the first episode.
In the first episode, they very well established that the only way of dealing with the infected was killing them if they tested positive, and that this had clearly been the policy for twenty years. So why did the Fireflies decide this one time to try something different? This is never discussed in this show (or in the game). The only possible hints are when, in the show, Joel mentions that they've heard tales of 'cures' before and that none of those rumors ever panned out. But there's never any background to that to follow that up. So all we have is lethal injections -> incineration. That's the policy. 20 years.

Maybe spend three or four minutes on how she got bit
quote:
This was covered in last night's episode.
They burned 3/4 of an episdoe on a relationship that is yet again completely irrelevant. They've only nine episodes and this is a good story. A couple of tense moments on how she gets bit, especially since we know what's coming, tied in with a minute or so explaining why the Fireflies decide to try observing her instead of the typical poison/burn strategy. I don't want to give away the future (based on the game), but they could have used that opportunity to foretell what's coming and explain some motivations which were brushed over in the first episode (and even in the game). Would have been interesting to see how they portrayed it all. Oh well.

We're not apparently supposed to talk about the game (surprised at the upvotes - I was heavily downvoted for doing that). B
I’m not talking about the plot or revealing spoilers or potential spoilers. Only that the show is portraying the characters in a largely accurate manner.

One was only implied to be 'gay' - if that's even accurate.
I think finding the play girl magazines made it explicit.

This is also from the 1st episode.

Marlene: How about we start with "thank you"?
Ellie: For what?
Marlene: For saving your life? I am the one who told 'em not to shoot you, if you recall.
Ellie:( mutters ) Yeah. Why did you stop them?
Marlene: We'll get to that. So... Veronica... how ya feelin'?
Ellie: The same. Is it gonna happen?
Marlene: No.
Ellie: So, can I go?
Marlene: No.
Ellie: I won't tell anyone about any of this. I swear.
Marlene: Where you gonna go? Back to FEDRA military school? You that anxious to be a soldier?
Ellie: You think I chose that place? They put me there when I was a baby. It's for orphans.
Marlene: "They" didn't put you there. I did. Ellie.
Ellie: You my f?ck¡ng mom or something?
Marlene: Do I look like your mom?
Ellie: Nooo, you do not.
Marlene: My name is Marlene. I'm the leader of the Fireflies in the Boston QZ.
Ellie: Why would a terrorist dump me with FEDRA?
Marlene: Because it's where you'd be safest, and you were safe there until you decided to sneak out. And "terrorist"? Was Riley a terrorist? ( solemn music plays )
Ellie: ( voice breaking ): Why won't you let me go home?
Marlene: Because you have a greater purpose than any of us could've ever imagined. So we're leaving tonight, and we're taking you with us.
Marlene obviously knew who Ellie was and Riley told Ellie that Marlene was the one who recruited her. It's obvious that after being bitten and Riley turned and Ellie didn't, Marlene found Ellie and/or Riley and realized Ellie hadn't turned in the correct timeframe and she figured it was worth securing Ellie and observing her long enough to realize she was immune(which could still be coming up on the show).

And I assumed that's why they had her chained up in a room by herself when we first meet her. To make sure that she wasn't going to turn.

Correct.
The non-zombie, "talky" parts of the show are really dropping some important info. People should really pay more attention to those parts.

By this point in the game you’d killed hundreds of zombies

Garbage filler episode. Show is obsessed with same sex relationships.
I always found that it makes sense for more gays to survive apocalyptic events. A larger percentage of them don't have families, so as resources get scarce they have fewer people to provide for, and can take fewer risks.

Who always spearheads gentrification of shithole urban areas?
Gays.
Same concept

I was looking forward to this show more than any show in quite a while, but man it just isn't as good as I was hoping. Definitely worth watching, but just not a great show. Maybe I'm a bit let down too since the pilot was one of the better episodes of TV I think I've ever seen.
It was a good ending to last nights episode but pretty weak overall. Did a decent job of making you feel bad/realize how bad it would suck for a kid that would grow up in that situation.
I know the cussing is true to her character but it was a bit tiresome last night. She had to have said frick 100 times.
Legit lol'd at this. I'm not going to hate on the kid for her looks, she is a good actress and that's what matters, but this is kind of spot on

None of those zombies are a match for the 5' potato head though. She yells "frick" at them and they weaken their defenses.

i just think it's funny how everyone always complains about adaptations not being faithful and we get the most faithful adaptation ever and people are basically criticizing the game because all this stuff really happened in the game.
can't have it both ways.

“frick” is one of greatest and most versatile words in the English language and there is no limit on how much it can and/or should be used.
Does anyone remember the movie Alpha Dog from the early 2000s? I legit laughed how often the said frick in it - and that was damn near 20 years ago and it wasn’t as much in everyday vernacular
I don’t remember watching last night and thinking, “man they sure are saying the F word a lot” - maybe I’m too desensitized.
