Yeah, the carousel thing went on WAY longer than it should have. They literally showed them riding that thing for minutes. Just riding it. No storytelling, no plot. Just standing/sitting on a carousel in an abandoned mall riding it for fun.

I think some of it is just Bella Ramsey TBH. Her delivery of the word “frick” comes off a bit sharp - probably in part because she’s British and already trying to cover her accent. I think she’s done a decent job with the accent for the most part but there are certain words that come off as a little unnatural.
I still think it’s a minor complaint in the grand scheme of things.
As for the pacing - yeah, it could probably be better. But I think when people look back on this season after it’s complete, those complaints will also seem minor.
This particular episode told the story of the “Left Behind” DLC. If it seemed a bit disjointed from the main storyline, that’s because it was disjointed from the main storyline.. even in the games. But I can see why the writers chose to incorporate the “Left Behind” part now instead of waiting. It helps us understand why Ellie is the way she is, which is important, but there’s not really a great time to do it.
I think it probably would have worked better if they had cut between the two timelines but that would have also meant condensing the Boston QZ storyline a lot. I don’t think it would have made sense to split the flashback up over multiple episodes.
The point is that while is hasn’t been flawlessly executed, I still think it’s been good. I’m holding out judgement on the season as a whole until I see these final two episodes.

Yes, I included you in that since you're the main one doing it. I clarified that the "vitriol" wasn't specifically directed at you because others have been much worse than you. But since you've now called me a bitch, you can go ahead and remove my previous clarification and I'll lump you in with the others.

And this is definitely the case for me as well. It doesn't ruin the damn show for me. Just something that I tend to notice and feels a little off.

Did you overlook that in the pandemic no one has AR-15's and the AK-47 with the banana clip that was actually on the gay dude's wall was never used, even when attacked by dozens?
Look, I was trained "one shot, one kill" but there are times when you need to lock and load. Single shot hunting rifles rarely cut the mustard when fending off a squad or platoon but that's just silly ole me.

I think you nailed it.
Shes just kind of an insufferable casting choice in general. She obviously got a horribly bad draw in the genetic lottery in general. Unfortunately hollywood salivates at these homely, no gender types these days.
She doesn't have an acting range over "omg bitch face glare, drop f-bomb, grunt, repeat"
It worked in thrones because she was supposed to be a preteen. Unfortunately she's all grown up now but looks no older and has no apparent redeeming qualities. This is amplified when we have to stare at her for an hour in a mall with another boring arse character.
Some of you people who are obsessed with the source material are actually the ones in the wrong thread. I don't know anything about the game other than its a grownup man escorting an important teenage girl to safety. You weirdos get MAD when the no-game playing folks critique your show. Well, go do your own thread where you can take turns cheering on bluegrass belle e-fellating another poorly structured series, while simultaneously using your nerd light sabers to defend every ounce of criticism about the show.

She’s a fair point. But this dude in the mall was on them instantly and they’d kick him down and run and he’d form tackle them in seconds, and was relentless.
The comment was tongue in cheek a little, but he did strike me last night as one of the more athletic ones we’ve seen on the show (moreso than the batshit ones previously). He was basically Terry Tate, Office Linebacker, in zombie form.
