last of us teaser

How do y'all feel if it ends up a cut for cut live action show? (ie mimicking the game's story but made for TV?) Does Bella Ramsay make sense as Ellie? If there's a part two, who gets cast as Abbie?

Would be funny if it's Elliot Page.

Honestly, wouldn't it be better if they delved into why joel and tommy became hunters?

Pedro actually sounds like Troy Baker with that "you have no idea what loss is" line.

They've already addressed this and it won't be.

It will go through the general outline of the story but Craig Mazin and Druckmann have said in order to adapt it for TV it will require changes. What works for games doesn't always work for TV. Plus, it's a 10ish hour show and even if you added up all the cut scenes it wouldn't be enough.

They've already hinted at some pretty notable additions in terms of background on Joel/Eliie and other characters that Mazin is excited about, including a cut idea from the game that had his jaw on the floor supposedly. So I'd expect the main story beats to remain the same, but the details and order of things to be different.

We'll find out, she has only had one line and it was off screen. But she has shown she has both charisma and the ability to be stone cold, which is what the character requires. But it will also unlikely be a 1 for 1 recreation of Ashley Johnson's character of Ellie and people need to come to grips with that.

Man I can't wait for this show. When does it start? Has to be soon with the marketing seeming to ramp up lately.

Also, does HBOMax release seasons all at once, or is it weekly episode releases?

It's HBO proper and it will be a weekly release.

And I would guess early 2023 release. I think filming concluded in late June so that would be 6+ months for post production.

Probably will get a set date near the end of House of the Dragon since Last of Us seems to be their next "big" blockbuster project.

Word. The ad I saw was an HBOMax ad, so it made me wonder if it was HBOM only. But regular HBO makes sense, and I actually think I prefer weekly releases anyway.

The jury is out on Bella as Ellie but HBO doesn’t usually miss on their casting and Pedro seems to have nailed the look and sound of Joel so I’m super optimistic there. As for Abby I’m wondering if we get introduced to her at the end of the season most likely as her 14 year old version, something on the lines of a quick scene of her finding her dad’s body.

Speaking of her I’d love if they’d change the story up a bit for season 2 or whenever they get to the second game. Have us get to know adult Abby a good bit more have her actually live in Jackson for a bit then bam she kills Joel and runs off the we eventually get the big twist of Abby’s father being killed by Joel

Yeah it can be a bit confusing how the company presents things.

But HBOMax is almost like a separate entity, but all HBO shows also appear on the HBOMax platform, but not vice versa. And most HBO shows seem to advertise under the HBOMax banner these days.
