****spoiler af******

I'm thinking he was marked to be in their illuminati-bohemian grove-esque club. Those who were on the list were also in the club and were honored to be killed by him. They only cut his hand, not his friend's.
At the end, he seemed pleased with the outcome. I didn't understand why the wife was laughing and why she didn't alert her husband during the knife fight.

A Field in England is also slow burning and badass. I watched Kill List for the first time Sat night with a friend who suggested it. Then I watched A Field in England last night with the same friend but I heard about AFIE from a different guy and put it on my Christmas list and it came yesterday. Bluray and we watched it on my 46 inch wide 1080pi HDTV and surround sound, it was intense as frick.

Spoiler for Kill List:

He was the anti-Christ. But he didn't know it till the end. There were subtle clues all along like him shooting a priest, his wife saying no praying at the table, and him threatening the Christians in the restaurant. The librarian knew he was the AC and was honored to be killed by him.

I love how you can't really place the movie into one genre

the ending left me pretty speechless

Also, maybe I turned the subtitles on too late because I'm not sure what the point of the whole thing was. Who were the people that hired them? Why were they "chosen" at the beginning by that chick? What was the significance of the cut on the hand? Why did the librarian say shite like "thank you" and "he doesn't know who you are" to Jay? Was it just some random cult thing with no explanation?
I think this movie, like many others, is left up to interpretation

You could argue that the whole thing is just a dream. There are several parts in the movie where people are telling him to wake up. You could argue it's a metaphor for leaving religion.

I thought it was pretty good. Been meaning to Watch a Field in England, but don't think it's on Netflix Instant.
The director, Ben Wheatley, did the first two episodes of the most recent season of Doctor Who. Those were really well done and shot super interestingly.

Started watching last night and started to doze off. Not because of the movie lol, I just had a long arse day and started watching at 12:30. Drifted off for a second and woke up to a sacrifice scene and I was like oh frick, I need to turn it off and finish in a more alert state. I'll watch it again after work

Atmosphere is really great. Really uncomfortable. Reminds me of Eyes Wide Shut
