Everyone in the movie except the lead didn't die in Dazed and Confused

Also movie just straight up ignores the youngest and sixth brother Chris - who shot himself in the head at 21

(yes, movies take liberties with facts - I know how the industry works, I'm just saying)

Early screenings said he wasn't that good in the role.

"The acting was good in some cases, but the guy who played Fritz (Holt McCallany) wasn’t good"

I grew-up watching the Von Erich boys on Sunday nights out of WDSU, Channel 6 in New Orleans. They were nothing short of phenomenal. When you hear fans of today's wrestling talk about current stars being "over," they've got nothing on the Von Erichs. Imagine the world's most popular boy band, only every dude in the group was a world class athlete and arse-kicker. That was the Von Erichs.

Seeing the Sportatorium resurrected in the trailer was amazing, and the moment I heard the opening strains of Rush's "Tom Sawyer," I knew this flick was gonna be legit. If you know, you know.

I was on set the day they filmed the scenes fighting the Freebirds. It felt like the Sportatorium.

The guy they have playing Terry Gordy was awesome. His ring name is Silas Mason.

Chavo Guerrero Jr. did the wrestling training, and I talked to him on set.

Sweet. Where exactly were the wrestling scenes filmed? I’d love to hear more about this.

Kinda sad because Chris already felt overshadowed by his brothers. I guess there’s only so much time in the movie.

Also I didn’t know this, but the oldest Von Erich son died in a freak accident as a child. Holy hell that family was cursed.

They built the Sportatorium in the old Gerard Furniture store on Florida Blvd. A pretty big chunk of the movie was filmed there. Sets there were the interior and exterior of the Sportatorium, Fritz Von Erich's office, and the room where they did wrestler promos.

I got to see Lawler and Kerry wrestle in the late 80s at the old Louisville Gardens. Never got to see the brothers all together unfortunately.

Looking forward to this one. Love the cast. Maura Tierney is always underrated as well.

That’s neat; thanks. Any idea if it’s still looking like the Sportatorium on the exterior, now? I’d make a drive out to see that.
