I'm a huge fan of Jackson's LOTR.
The hobbit mostly blew.
I hope it hits it's stride in the second movie...but frankly 3 movies to tell this story are two too many.

One two many at the least anyway, and it showed badly in the first film. Not that the first film was bad, it was just kinda a 7/10 type film, with too many lulls and uneven tone.
But with them adding on the battles with Sauron at the end 2 movies was understandable. Three movies was a bad call.

Your attempt at insult fails.
I'm 50.
Been reading Tolkien since before you were a gleam in your father's eye.
Just read the hobbit to my son cover to cover 6 months ago to prep him for the very disappointing movie.

I just wish the movie wasn't so childish.
My 12 year old brother enjoyed it, but the burp, fat, and fart jokes were just too much for me.

The story and characters of The Hobbit are better than The Lord of the Rings, so the movies should be better. It's a shame they stretched them into three, but we've all been lamenting that for a while now, so it's time to just deal with it and hope the next one is better than the first, which was still a good movie in its own right.

I enjoyed the first hobbit a lot

It wasn't a terrible movie, but it was hurt greatly by its childish characteristics and kiddy jokes, IMO.

You might want to try again on that one on both the age and the reading. You just look retarded making dumb assumptions.
They missed the tone of the Hobbit badly in the movie. The hobbit is very whimsical and lighter in tone than LOTR, but not straight out silly as the movie was throughout. They nailed the Gollum and Bilbo meeting, and the eagles were solid, but otherwise the story was a hot mess.

They are keeping Smaug so shut tight that not even PJ wife could see it.
Well, she should just give him a few Natty Lights and cook him a STEAK dinner.

Exactly. It had good parts, but large sections were just ruined by stupid jokes.
The entire time they are trying to escape from the goblins was very poorly done.

adding a big bad to a movie that already had a big bad was also stupid.

You have the fat hobbit running and shaking all kinds of goblins off, practically bouncing on the bridges.
Not once during that entire scene did I have that sense of them even remotely being in danger like Aragorn and the others were when they were in Moria.
I feel like they should've just played that stereotypical clown music in the background.
