I believe they were both 9 ft long at least.

I remember hearing from somewhere that the lions were killing to chew on people because of a sore tooth. Very interesting if true.

Having been up close and petting 1 year old
Lions and watching the 3 year old males hunt forreal in the Zimbabwean bush...
9 Feet long lions sound even more terrifying than you’d think

Saw it in the theater, it was the first movie I took my ex-wife to go see. Excellent movie. In retrospect, I wish the ex had been eaten by a lion.
The Rock was the first movie I saw my ex. Wouldn't hurt my feelings much if she drowned in the Bay.

Never heard of this movie before, just watched it b/c of this post. Loved it.
Also, reading up on the events, and Patterson lived a helluva life. He killed the infamous maneating lions. War hero. Retired as a Lt Col, would have been a general but antisemitism/politics held him back b/c he stood up up for his Jewish soldiers. He discovered a new species of antelope. And was the father of the Israeli special forces.

I think you meant to say The Ghost and Mr Chicken.

I love this movie. Reading this thread inspired me to do more research and I read that Benjamin Netanyahu’s older brother was actually named after Colonel Patterson. Who knew?

One of my favorites.

I visited the Chicago Field Museum in 1978 and saw an exhibit with 2 stuffed lions that had killed quite a few people.
It wasn't until I saw The Ghost and The Darkness (the names given to the lions) that I made the connection.
John Henry Patterson shot the lions and sold their bodies for $5,000 to the Field Museum in Chicago.

My dad and I went see this when I was a kid. I've probably seen it 3 or 4 more times since then, and enjoyed it every time. Always thought it was a really good movie.

Doesn't the Chicago Field Museum also have a giant T-Rex in the main lobby? I think that is the one.
