The Gay Dude and His Dad in the Aaron Hernandez doc

Anyone else think those guys were awful?
At the end, his high school lover said, "Aaron was very proud to be gay, he just couldn't tell anyone."
I just don't get it. Nothing about his behavior makes me think he was "proud" to be gay. i'd be willing to bet money he was extremely embarassed. That guy said stuff like that in all 3 episodes.
And I don't even get why his dad was with him. That guy knew Aaron for two years and I doubt thet had any real connection. To me he seemed like a guy who really wanted to be involved. While everyone who knew Aaron seemed sad throughout the interview, this guy just couldn't wait to talk about the day Aaron hung himself.
Other than that, a good doc.
I'm not trying to be homophobic, I just fail to see why their opinion is needed in issues other than his childhood.

The high school lover guy kinda creeped me out at times, but I also figure he had a rough life in some ways, and some of it was just his mannerisms. The insight into Aaron's homosexuality in high school was an important part of the story.
There were obviously a lot of people close to Aaron who didn't want to participate in this documentary. The producers took who they could get, I suppose.
I read it more as them being people who had been emotionally invested in AH since he was a kid, and were shocked by everything that happened, including his suicide. They seemed like eager participants in the documentary, for sure. But maybe that's because in their mind he was once just a nice kid who went through a lot of shite, and they wanted to express that for whatever reason.

Dudes dad seems like a good guy. Aaron was probably over there a lot. I think he was also a coach, aaron was an athlete coach he's probably spent a lot of time with.
Dude went to the nfl and basically became a hometown star on the Patriots. He probably bragged a lot and saw aaron after he was an nfl star.
Son seemed weird.

He looked like a little dweeb, yet he kept grouping himself with Aaron as being the two football stars and popular kids.
Pretty sure Aaron was, and you got to hang out from time to time, bud.

That was the issue for me. The son only wanted to talk about having gay sex with Aaron. The dad seemed like he was having a grand ole time talking about Aaron. Maybe he’s just high energy but he rubbed me the wrong way. Seemed like he loved being interviewed.

Supposedly that guy wasn’t even the starting QB for their team. He was the backup and only played during mop up duty his entire HS career

So Im with you. They didnt have any real value to me

My wife (no pics) and I were just talking about this last night. They really bothered her. Later, my kid came home and our friends were over and our friend mentioned how much the Dad and the QB bothered her too. My kid chimed in that the dad interviews were like an episode of Cake Boss and the dad was trying to be too expressive and over the top.

Yeah. The QB should have only been in the first episode. The dad shouldn’t have been interviewed at all.

Yeah Netflix over did the gay thing. That’s Netflix for you though.

To me, the Dad interviewed showed how one father came around on his son's identity vs Hernandez's father who would have never been ok with it.

That was a good contrast, so, yeah.
If I was gay I'd probably want to brag about getting with Aaron Hernandez, too. Cleat-chasers exist in the gay community, too.

The dad seemed like his stuff was scripted and he was a shitty actor.
