Decent movie. Made me hate Ray Kroc after that though. Guy was a prick.

No spoiler. I thought the McDonald brothers were very decent men while Kroc was the opposite.

I also learned about the milk shakes.

Awesome movie. Keaton kills it.

The McDonald bros, while sympathetic, had no vision or ambition. Kroc did. So he won and they lost.

One of my favorite Mark Knopfler songs Boom Like That is about this.

Credit to Kroc for building the empire by having the vision, ambition, balls and persistence to make it happen.

But the guy was a snake in the grass. Although, the McDonald's brothers shouldn't have accepted a handshake deal for the royalty, they should have known he would frick them over.

They were clearly naive, and would have never had the level of success that Kroc built. But it’s incredibly shitty what he did to them. I thought the movie was great.

Yet without him, McDonald’s wouldn’t be more than a few burger stands in California, if still even in business.

Kroc was a douche, but knew how to build a franchise empire

One thing bothered me about it. They had attorneys present during the conversation so there were witnesses to the agreement. At least in the movie.

The movie shows it was Harry Saniborne who understood it.

It's been a while since I have seen it, but I like how Kroc starts off as a sympathetic likable character and end with him being a total jackoff a-hole. How much was true and how much was exaggerated is unknown, but it a great based-on-a-true-story movie.

That’s one of the things that makes the narrative suspiciously one sided. It’s a good movie, but there was probably more to it. Like no one ever shows the McDonald brothers laughing at taking money from this kooky hard-life salesman, thinking his ideas will never take off.

That's how the McDonald's episode in the "The Food that Made Us" portrays it.

One of my favorites in the past decade.

And yes, Ray Kroc was a backstabbing POS.

Sure, but that didn’t stop Kroc from using his method to get rich. Sonneborn was eventually appointed to CEO, but resigned after they had a dispute about future expansion.

Did it tell why their shake machines are always out of order?

FWIW, they recently discovered there was planned breakdowns by whoever designed it so they could keep their repairmen having to go out and fix them. I believe that’s the latest

Fun fact, one of the McDonalds brothers have nothing but good things to say about Ray. He also took his million and reinvested it in McDonald's and it made him a lot of money.
