The movie won't make a lot of money but it was pretty good. Enjoyed seeing the early days of McDonalds. Kroc is a POS though.

Seeing as how I'm not going to see the dog movie now because of the way they handled that German Shepherd, might go see this.

I have always liked Michael Keaton.

I just saw it. Really good movie. I had an idea about the backstory, but had no idea of the details. Holy hell.

I wonder how good original Mc Donald use to taste, that movie actually made the burgers look tasty.

Ray Kroc was such a dickhead. I went from praying that this poor guy catches a break in the 1st 30 mins to "frick that guy! I hope all the bad things in life happen to him and only him" not even 20 minutes later.

Great movie though.

Saw it today. Keaton was solid as usual, but the movie was really klunky to me. The flow was just speedbumped with suspect edits and flat supporting roles.

That aside, it's such a good story I stayed with it and would reccommend to anyone that doesn't know the franchise's history - like me.

Those McD bros got screwed proper. I had no idea about the real estate angle and the stats at the end were pretty eye-popping.

The movie got me thinking about the quality of the early McDonald's hamburgers.

They looked delicious and people said they were the best burger they had eaten.

But when Kroc replaced the real milkshakes with powder it displayed a willingness to sacrifice quality for fast and cheap food.

I wonder if the original burgers were better than the ones of today or have our standards increased that much over the years.

As a side note I don't know if you ever heard the Mark Knopfler song Boom Like That (2004), but the song is about Kroc. I love the way he writes songs. He sure is a POS in the song.

Fantastic movie. A- for me, really enjoyed it.

Im surprised at some of you's less than respect for Kroc's achievement. The McDonald's brothers would have never had anymore than 1% the success that Kroc had. They just didnt have the drive he had and business sense that expanded beyond a few locations. If the McDonalds brothers had his abilities they wouldn't have needed him. He made McDonalds a mega success and they profited off his achievements. I feel no remorse for them.

True. They already failed with franchising.

The real dick move from Kroc was trying to run their lone store out of business.

McDonald's wouldn't be a worldwide brand without Kroc but that doesn't mean he wasn't a dick too.

Plenty of folks built a better mousetrap. Apple saw the Xerox GUI for the mouse and bought it and built their system around the mouse and GUI. Microsoft saw the Apple GUI and built one too.

Innovators get screwed all the time.

Lookin at you Edison.

Watched this the other night

I'd give it a B-, good story and Keaton was solid as usual but it didn't do much else for me to give it any higher rating

Watched this on the plane the other day. I liked that they didn't stray too far to force a narrative and left the audience to do their own evaluation of where Ray Kroc sits on the "Gets the job done/POS" scale.

I thought they could have done a better job of exploring the pre-McDonald's world before diving into the McDonald's plot line. There was enough information throughout the movie to piece a lot of it together, but I wonder if I missed some of the significance in the opening scenes by not really knowing a pre-McDonald's world (as with any other <75 year old).

I agree with this. If the McDonald's brothers would have actually been true business partners with Kroc and didn't deny all of his request, they would have been just as successful. Also, a handshake deal for royalties, come on
