This is why they need to be remade. Remade in their entirety with the correct script and plot and backstories and relationship dynamics.
My sincere hope is this new trilogy knocks it out the fricking Park and rakes in money and they decide to remake the prequels next. And by remake, I mean completely rewrite, reboot, rescript and change basically everything.
In other words, remake the prequel trilogy so they are actual good movies and not solely just to:
1) Appeal to kids
2) Sell Action Figures
I kid you not, I saw Phantom Menace in theaters 5 times... 5 fricking times because I wanted to believe the movie wasn't as bad as I thought it was.

The only thing you've debunked is the notion you can have a civilized debate with anyone who does not agree with you. You've also debunked the notion that you've got anything approaching a reading comprehension level over that of the average 5th grader with a reading disorder. I've wasted enough of my time on your stupid arse. Good night and go frick yourself.

I agree, he'd extend an offer for Obi-Wan to join him, Obi-Wan of course turns it down, Anakin desperately tries to make his old master see why this is the better side and Obi Wan full of regret and sympathy flicks his light saber on and says something like "I'm sorry I have failed you Anakin". And Anakin full of pain and anguish flicks his light saber on and says something back full of pride and ego and powerlust and pain and they have the inevitable fight.
Yep, we're on the same page. I've written a synopsis where Anakin somewhat willingly betrays everyone in Episode 3, but has Obi Wan spared in belief he'll join him, but then this breaks out. They should have been lifelong friends in something besides a book no one has ever read.

We have been discussing the movies and the prequels and the theories behind relationships and the shortcomings of the prequels and what they could've done better.
Your sold contribution has been "read the books, they got somea gooden plot points in ther ya hear". Like a broken fricking record.
No one wants to read the books or discuss them.
We're discussing the movies. Do you not get that?

I directly brought up how stupid Palpatine's point was in the book that the Jedi would kill him for simply being a Sith Lord, and Anakin takes his word for it. That is dumber than anything in the movie itself. Palpatine says he's entirely innocent because for some reason he can't help being a Sith Lord. It's not as if he's fricking black or anything. He made that choice long ago. I doubt if you stormed in on anyone in a Klan uniform that that explanation to anyone with the IQ of a walnut that that explanation would have sufficed. Anakin is simply an idiot in the book you're referring to.

I outwardly laughed to keep from screaming hatred in the movie theatre when Obi-Wan of the prequels says "You were my brother, Anakin. I loved you."
I felt like jumping through the screen and asking him what kind of fricked up childhood he had if he considers the way he's been treating his protégé love and if he could ever believe Anakin was a brother to him.

I get it. You're too stubborn and stupid to understand the books. The whole thing went over your head, you could not comprehend what you were reading and thus in your mind it was "stupid". Maybe if they'd have included pretty pictures it would have helped you.
Actually I think your problem comes from the fact you've got your own stupid notion how the story should have gone and you're pissed off they didn't write the story the same way you would have. So not only are you stupid, you're also narcissistic and suffer from delusions of grandeur by thinking you're some sort of writer.

So, like any other time you're in a thread anywhere on this website, you're going to start personally attacking people until we stray from the point and derail the thread?
Darth, keep this stupid bullshite on the OT and do not derail this thread.

Yeah "Only a Sith deals in absolutes" went over my head.
But seriously, tell me why Palpatine's point on being hunted down as a Sith for simply started a civil war and hunting down the Jedi wasn't a 100% stupid reason. Please tell me where he was justified in his reasoning with Anakin and why someone who is capable of basic reasoning wouldn't know he was a monster?

Nice personal insults, as if they have anything to do with the subject at hand and you have yet to refute my points aside from "it's in the books".

You're making the classic mistake of putting the character in your shoes instead of putting yourself in his shoes. You're looking at that scene where he tells AnikinsAnikin's he loved him from your own point of view of what that statement means to you. But to understand the story, you've got to consider what that statement meant to Obi wan. You grew up in a normal home with parents, friends, family. Obi Wan grew up from infancy at the Jedi Temple. He never had a mother, never had a father. His whole concept of "love" is completely different from anything like you know because his life was so different from your own.

Dude you started the insults. Don't want insults, then don't give insults.

Your repeated "Read the books" is a bit infuriating. So frick you if you keep on using that as an excuse.

Start personal insults? Go back and you'll see I didn't start the insults. Butbeing that OM is in agreement with you on the movies, you'll ignore the fact he started the insults and instead you'll pretend I started it all. Typical.

Wrong. I put the New Hope character in the prequels shoes.

1. Are you really defending the prequel Obi-Wan character? You think that was a good way to portray him? An obnoxious overbearing brutal a-hole?
2. The love and relationship between a master and an apprentice is a universally understood thing. Like father and son or brothers, I didn't need to grow up in a Jedi Temple to understand the concept of love between master and student.

Wait. A moment ago you were calling me out for personal insults when you're the one who started throwing them around. Now you're trying to justify them? Wow, you really are a hypocrite.

You could just shut the frick up and discuss star wars.
Maybe read a book on "how to drop it" .

I know. He should have been lovable and reckless. Judging from the previews to the next X-Men film, they will show exactly what the Star Wars prequels should have been, with Obi Wan as Xavier and Magneto as Vader. Maybe Vader not against Obi Wan at the end of Episode I, but for sure have the pieces set at the end of Episode II.

I'm not defending anything. But you've got to remember that Obi-Wan took Anikin as his apprentice literally moments after he'd been promoted from that very rank himself. He was barely more than a boy himself. And like most boys that age he was stubborn and headstone thinking he knew best when the truth was he still had a lot to learn.

Not at all. The love and relationship a Jedi has for their apprentice and other Jedi is very different from that of normal people. This may piss off OM, but in the books, this is discussed and explained in detail.

I'm just saying shut the frick up about anything that happens outside of the movies. Is that too much to ask, you fricking a-hole?

Because this is not hinted at or discussed at any point in 6 movies and a TV show, Go ahead and explain it then. What's so different about it in the books? What makes their relationship so special?
