I wonder how they can keep this going past one season?
The general consensus seems to be that there isn't enough there for several seasons, but I think they could easily stretch it out for 4 or 5 seasons without jumping the shark. It isn't like the guy is threatening DC with a dirty bomb and they have to stop him within a couple of days. He is killing a few people and trying to drive Kevin Bacon to suicide. They could make it last a long time without forcing people to go a long way in suspending their disbelief. The whole thing also seems to be so damn complex that they could make every season kind of like a video game where they track down one main co-conspirator and finish him/her off in the season finale like a boss fight.

Still doesn't hold a candle to the 24 police details.. those were always the worst. You know someone was about to get through if they ever mentioned "we have the area surrounded"

With the star power involved in this (Kevin Bacon & James Purefoy) I just don't see this going beyond 2 or 3 seasons. American television could really look to those bastards across the pond when it comes to serialized television. Come up with a beginning, middle, and end for the story before production on season one ever gets started and go from there. 3 or 4 seasons is more than enough as most shows start to get tiring around the fifth season anyway.

Kevin Bacon is getting his arse kicked a lot so far in this show. Guy must not even lift

Suffice it to say, though, that this is a show where Nothing Is As It Seems, and it has all the same hazards such a show will always have. Once a writer establishes that anything can happen, then it’s difficult to engage with the characters beyond the archetypal level.
Well said by the AV Club writer. It's difficult for me to take this show seriously. It just feels ridiculous

Well he is playing an alcoholic who had to quit the FBI because he couldn't pass a physical. So I'm not expecting him to be Jack Bauer here

This Deftones song has been the best part of the first two episodes. Low bar

Just coming to say this. I'm really liking this show and I don't want what happened to Lost to happen here. Get a few good seasons out of a really good show and not get greedy. Maybe network cable will realize that some of us like gritty dramas with balls in stead of so called reality shows.

TulaneTigerFan doesn't like the show. This is a good sign

Glad I wasn't the only one that thought that.

I'm still reserving judgment on this show. And I too dont see how they could get more than 2 seasons at most out of this unless something drastically changes.

I'm hooked. I'm actually okay if this showed lasted only a few seasons. Has a movie feel for me and it has to end sometime. I hoping they don't drag it out too long.
Good show.
Good show.

The girl alone is reason enough to continue to watch. And I do like it aside from that.

Ive watched the first two episodes and its enjoyable. Either from some decent suspense and craziness or from the hilarious plot holes and ba acting that are fun to make fun of in a harmless way
Definitely think the Bacon Lover is a part of it.
As soon as the Cult chick came on screen i thought she was apart of it, especially when she corrects him about calling it a cult and a ton of other little things she was saying that was romanticizing everything that was happening. Now im thinking its a little too obvious to be a part of it
The cops and FBI in the show are absolutely hilariously incompetent. They only cover the front of houses, when they checl an area (like the cop in the second episode with the ex wife) they dont open any closets or bathrooms or anything, just casually look around obvious areas.
How do you let anyone leave that neighborhood without checking the cars?
Why do the still have the ex wife at home and not in some remote location?
How do you not check the frick out of every person that visited the guy in jail?? All these people wrote down who they were and were seen on camera with him and noone thought to check those people out.
Why is the jail more concerned with Kevin Bacon hurting the serial killer than they are with a serial killer being alone in the same room with his estranged wife?
Thats only a few overall its a fun hour. I think the shows success will be its downfall. If it gets big ratings then they wont want to end it which drags the story out way too long and people will get bored with it. This would be best suited as a 1 or 2 season long show but that wont happen and they will exhaust every plot twist til theres nothing left

Fox's The Following has some promising news in its second outing. Fast National returns have the freshman thriller up a tenth of a point from last week's premiere showing, giving it a 3.3 rating with adults 18-49. If the number sticks, it will be the only new series this season to grow in its second episode. Its lead-in, Bones, saw even more growth. The recently renewed drama was up three tenths of a point to a season high 2.6 rating with adults 18-49. The network won the night with adults 18-49 (2.9 rating) and total viewers (9.6 million).
great...

It is quality TV but it isn't great. Watched episode 2 last night. I will keep watching. The girl is going to kill the computer guy...has to.
Does anyone know if the body count has passed Rambo or Robocop levels yet has to be getting close?

It is pretty bad. I can at least rationalize the first frick up. But the second? Really guys?
Just watched the first two episodes online and I've really enjoyed them. Of course I'm a big James Purefoy fan so I'm an easy mark with this one.

Agreed with most here. Great acting, but horribly campy writing/plot devices.
Like 93 said above, what cops on protection detail, just walk in the room, do a cursory look around, and say "Ok, good to go." ????
Stupid as shite.
Not a closet door was opened, nothing. He didn't even go into the bathroom in back of the room.
Maybe a killer was hiding in the shower. Under the bed. Behind the drapes.
Stupid fricking cops.

The stupid cops cliche has been in Williamson's quiver as a writer since the 1990s. David Arquette played one of the most incompetent cops ever in the Scream series.
