There's always a bigger fish. And, in this case, the bigger fish is corporate business.

"Not apprehend, dead. Don't care heavily-guarded. Don't care into the sea. Kill and be killed. Head in a bag," he pronounces, before switching from English to his native tongue to add, "There's the message."
As it turns out, Hanzee isn't the first "Fargo" character to use that particular phrasing. Season 1, episode 6, "Buridan's arse," introduces the head of the Fargo mob circa 2006, who's discussing what to do about Sam Hess's killer, with one of his men suggesting Hess was killed because of an extra-marital affair, rather than something tied to their business, and that Mr. Wrench and Mr. Numbers will apprehend the killer soon.
"Not apprehend," the boss declares. "Dead. Don't care extra-marital, don't care not related. Kill and be killed. Head in a bag. There's the message."
Not only does he use identical language, but I checked the guest credits from that episode, and it turns out the boss, played by Mark Acheson, is named...
...Tripoli.
So, sometime between 1979 and 2006, Hanzee not only has extensive plastic surgery, so he'll eventually look like this...

WHAT?!?
No shite?
I almost don't believe it because I can't imagine him looking like that...
edit: apparently the difference in appearance can be explained by facial surgery... since hanzee fricked up his face and they mentioned he will need to change his appearance.

Season 1 is pretty dope, admittedly...
but Season 2 is some next-level shite. Amazing season. Still a little pissed off by the Alien stuff in the last episode though.
Love all the final-episode references to season 1 though. Thought they did a much better job of finishing storylines and tying up loose-ends in the finale (even though it wasn't *quite* as eventful as the rest of the season).

I thought for a minute at the end from the way Hanzee was dressed that his new card was going to say Malvo on it. Great ending to season though tiring together the people from season 1. Sad that it's over

Odds Hanzee gutted the bullies picking on Mr. Numbers and Mr. Wrench on the baseball diamond? Looked like he was going for his knife before they cut out of the scene.

He def did something to them. Left to the imagination but by that point Hanzee wasnt playing around with anyone. I'd say 20% he gutted them 40 % he cut their hair since it was long and 40% he scared the piss out of them. Not sure numbers and wrench would work for him if first impression was murder

OH! And we found out Hanzee is Otto's illegitimate son from the family maid/cook.
Whatshisface from Buffalo - when he talks with Milligan and the remaining Kitchen brother - he says, "Remind me which one you are again? The kid Otto had with the maid?"

Without reading this thread or episode reviews, I would have never connected these dots.

Noticed one anacronism in the finale: Hamish Broker tells Mike Milligan that KC personnel will set him up with a 401k. It's 1979 and 401k's didn't happen til the 80's, even though the law made them possible in 1978.
quote:
In 1980, a benefits consultant named Ted Benna took note of the previously obscure provision and figured out that it could be used to create a simple, tax-advantaged way to save for retirement. The client he was working for at the time chose not to create a 401(k) plan.[5] He later went on to install the first 401(k) plan at his own employer, The Johnson Companies[6
