The ending of PTA gets me every time. Who cut the onions?

Not gonna lie, once Neal gets on the train and the music starts playing, I get a little misty eyed. Such a great movie, Martin and Candy at their peak, and are perfect duo together.

I have watched this movie out of tradition every Thanksgiving for probably the past 15 years. It still gets me every time

I still don't understand why Candy's character was homeless. Just because his wife died 8 yrs ago???
He seemed like he was a good salesman, so it's not like he couldn't afford a home base, even a small apt somehere?
That part never made sense to me.

I'm assuming alcohol, gambling, or severe depression/mental illness which are the main reasons for homelessness.

I never thought he was truly homeless due to financial reasons. His wife died and he didn't really have a home anymore. He just chose to stay on the road.

Dream Academy was a staple of John Hughes.

One of my favorite movies of all time
The original cut was over three hours and was a bit darker. They edited it down to perfection. This is a good 15 min watch if you haven’t seen it

My favorite fan theory is that Candy was carrying the body of his wife in that trunk of his..

He’s not homeless, well not in a bum sense. They cut his monologue from the train station at the end. In the full version He talks about how he just bounces from motel to motel. He was in a pickle this time as it was a holiday and his credit cards were destroyed.
Edit: yeah that video covers it
