No more woke gelflings with same sex parents. Why would someone not want to watch that?
quote:

The streamer has canceled its fantasy puppet series “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance” after only a single season, Variety has confirmed.
quote:

“Age of Resistance” featured a stellar voice cast, led by the likes of Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Nathalie Emmanuel. Other players included Caitriona Balfe, Helena Bonham Carter, Natalie Dormer, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mark Strong, Alicia Vikander, Mark Hamill, Jason Isaacs, Keegan-Michael Key, Simon Pegg and Andy Samberg.
quote:

News of the cancelation comes mere days after the show won an Emmy for best children’s series.
Star studded and woke enough to win awards, but no one gives a shite. It gives me hope for the future, and rightfully delegitimizes awards. Some are saying it has something to do with the blowback from Cuties, but I'm having trouble seeing that connection. In any case, it cost a lot to produce.

Was not that woke, honestly.

AND it was more about class struggle than anything else.

I made it through a couple episodes, but that show was weird and creepy AF. All the stuff with elites abducting children and sucking out their life force to stay young was like something out of the Q thread.

Yeah this was oddly.....modernt in terms of conspiracy theories. But that was ALWAYS Dark Crystal, that's nothing new for the worldbuilding.

Honestly, no. I wanted to, but as Netflix does, they pulled the movie off before the series came out, just like they did with Kobra Kai.

????

I literally binged the three Karate Kids then went straight into Cobra Kai in the same weekend. Same for DC.

I watched it. It didn't lay it on thick, but it was pretty steady.

That's about as woke as it gets, IMO. Intersectional stuff is annoying, but that dogma is the true core of all wokeness.

Netflix pulled Karate Kid films like two days after Cobra Kai dropped.

Ah that's why

I stopped playing around with that stuff. Watch things as fast as you can get to them if you WANT to watch something or are expecting something.

Christmas time - prepare yourself early. Sequel to a film is coming out - don't wait until 1 month before to watch the first movie.

Etc.

This is the main thing that I lament about the death of blockbuster. If I wanted to watch a movie, there was almost zero doubt that I could find it at blockbuster or my local movie rental store. If it was a new release, old classic, random movie from 10 years ago, etc, didn’t matter. I could find it. With streaming, I frequently fall into these gaps of wanting to see a movie that’s a couple years old, just old enough to not be on some streams, too old to be on others, and I can’t watch the sequel that’s coming out until I see the previous film. Amazon prime now has that expensive rental feature that has made this easier, but it’s a clear step downward in movie availability despite our technological “progress”.

You can rent anything on....

I mean, it's between 2.99 and 6.99 to rent a movie, is it THAT different from Blockbuster? I think Blockbuster, during the waning years raised prices to like 6.99 for first weekend release prices...then down to 4.99 and super old films were 2.99. They pretty much hit the mark on that. Plus, you rent while you pop popcorn, that's worth an extra buck.

I don’t find Amazon Prime rental has near the selection that Blockbuster used to have.

We've taken this way off topic, but something is missing here. I mean sure, it misses some movies randomly due to rights - Dawn of the Dead for awhile - and some foreign films. But I can't name many films that I can't find on Amazon to rent, or that I can't find there, but would have found at a physical Blockbuster location. I remember back in the day trying to find All the Right Moves. Took me like 4 Blockbusters and that was a Tom Cruise movie. Things like that were common with Blockbusters. Beetlejuice. Das Boot. The Original Captain America - Marc Singer style. Common memories of just not finding stuff at a Blockbuster.

Not sure what smart TV app you're using, but with Roku, I just search the title and it tells me what platform its streaming on; often for free.

Ehh, I worked at Blockbuster when I was in college. The selection was ok. You would for sure find the newest movies but often if I wanted something older I had to go to Hastings instead.
