I disagree with both of you. Jay and Theresa knew that the house was likely coming for them anyway had they not won the challenge. So might as well make a move while you have the power and actually can make the move. Pissing people off is irrelevant since the house was likely to vote you in anyway.

And the reason they wanted Ashley in was because a) she is a vet, b) she's won multiple challenges, and c) in the "mini final" challenge her team was close to beating Jay and Theresa. So they got her in there because she was one of the biggest threats to them in a final. And they voted Kam in because a) she is strong and can take Ashley out which is what they wanted anyway, and b) if Ashley were to pull off the elimination win then you are sending Kam home, who is one of the strongest females. Ashley vs. Kam was almost a no-lose for Theresa.

Like someone said, Theresa is getting in with the rookie girls, so she has numbers. Why not use them while you have the power and actually can? The main argument against it is that you could have tried to get the house to vote in someone weak so you can go down and get your skull, but my guess is that they assume they will be thrown in soon anyway, and they'll have their chance then. And they aren't wrong, especially with Kam coming back.

I think I said this early on in the thread, but I do wish someone like Jenny was on this season. She'd have a chance to win a lot of challenges, and then vote herself into elimination every time just to prevent any other women from winning skulls. I know it would never happen, but it would be amazing if someone just didn't give a frick and wanted to play a giant balls game like that.

It would be awesome... but... it would also be really dumb. Low risk, but basically no reward since she could crush them all in a final anyway.

ETA: I don't know for sure that Jenny would crush Lolo in a final... or Natalie had she not left. The rest of the field though, not much chance.

Double elimination will come
But it will be when one of the challengers already has a skull shocking everyone. That player will win and get two skulls going into the final which means one gender will only have 4 players running the final.

They never said the gold skulls will be paired with the opposite sex in the final.

Also looking at the time line, lio might have left because he had some wrestling dates in October and November.

No, they didn't.

There's no guarantee at all that the current partnerships would be intact in the final. If one has a skull and the other doesn't, then they can't stay intact.

I don't know why they are assuming there will be partners in the final. Although maybe Ashley was just throwing that out there to try to build her case to avoid the vote.

I hope it's not partners. Somebody ALWAYS gets fricked when there are partners.

And I hope Fessy gets stuck with Aneesa.

I thought it was funny how we go from last week's challenge being tailor made for a team like CT/Big T to this week's challenge where that's the exact opposite. You need two players who are about the same size and same physical fitness level, so CT being two feet taller than Big T and Aneesa being a big fatass made it impossible to win this week.

It was a dumb move for Theresa and Jay to not go in the elimination this week. I know they didn't know if it was a guy's or girl's elimination but this is the type of event that Jay could beat any other guy in. Theresa and Ashley would be more of an even match but Theresa still has a good shot at winning.

Theresa is also playing a weird game. She has a real history of being a sneeky player, but we're deep in the game and there's a layup on the board and you need a skull. Go in and get it.

Yea, these decisions these people are making are so bad. If your a girl, there's only 5 chances for a skull.

Big T and Theresa putting 2 people they want out in so they assure 1 goes out don't realize they're also assuring the other gets 1 of only 5 skulls.

If you're Theresa, you get everyone to vote Amber or some shite, and you put yourself in and roll the dice. There's going to be a couple of people I'd guess who have won challenges who never even get into the elimination for a chance at a skull.

quote:

Now, by lying up everyone, she's put a huge target on her back and has no skull to even show for it.

Jay is the one that royally fricked up going with it. How can he possibly not know how pissed everyone would be and more than likely the next challenge is a guy's challenge?

I think she made a smart move, to be honest. She's aligning herself with the rookie girls to throw two threats in against each other. If they can win challenges enough to do that another time or two then Theresa can pick off the rookies for her skull, all of whom she should easily beat. She had the numbers on her side to get Ashley thrown in, so she should be able to keep those numbers.

True, but she loses the ability to be able to likely pick her opponent, I think that's the issue.

A) He can almost certainly smooth things over with Kyle. That was 99% chance a womens' elimination so he was letting Theresa call the shots and Kyle wasn't in serious danger.
Not just that, Kyle(for the 2nd time) is getting mad about something when he lied to the challenge winner about who he voted for when the Challenge winner knows he lied to them.

So if you're going any way and you have to win to get a skull, why wouldn't you go when you get to pick your opponent basically and instead leave it up to chance?

I really wish they would have shown or asked CT what he thought of the moves Theresa and Jay made, from a strategy standpoint.

Yeah, he basically called everyone out for getting up in arms about someone lying to them, but from a game standpoint I wonder what he thought. He knows the game better than anyone still on this cast.

That's where not having Wes or John to do a interview hurts. They would have either blasted or praised the move and then explained how or why it was so great or so stupid.

I'd love one or both of them to live stream themselves watching an episode just to see their reactions. I figure they'd reveal too much behind the scenes stuff though.

If she keeps the rookie girls on her side she still has the numbers to potentially call her shot.

Because she’s thinking long term and trying to get rid of one of her biggest threats, not only in challenges but in the final.

I don’t disagree with you that she could’ve tried to use her power to go in against someone weaker, but she wanted to make a bigger move than that. And while it may not have been what I would’ve done, I don’t think it’s a stupid move at all.

All of the weaker girls are the ones she is trying to get on her side. She'll blindside one of them later after she doesn't need the numbers.

WeWantOGs apparently starts filming Feb 1st. Looking forward to see who will be in the cast.

Just thought of another thing too:

Because even if Theresa went in against someone weaker and won, she would still likely be thrown in again pretty soon in the future. Going in against someone weak now doesn't mean you will be safe from elimination in the future. So she made the (smart) play of trying to get rid of one of the stronger girls there. Ashley or Kam, whichever one goes home is a win for Theresa.

Wait... What? That show actually got the green light? That's fricking awesome.

Who is in the cast? I'm assuming Mark Long will be a producer and featured heavily in the show, but did he actually get MTV to pony up or did he put the show together on his own and just can't use any MTV or "Challenge" terminology.

With how old and out of shape some of these folks are going to be, I'm assuming it's going to basically be 40+ yr old Spring Break. I just hope the show is set in a giant party house in either Cancun or The Dominican. Those were the go-to spots back in the day.

Edit: After some basic research this is what I found on the potential cast and location. It looks like they're all quanriting in Texas right now (Padre Island maybe??) and that Bunim-Mirray is actually on board. Which would lead me to believe they have a network deal somewhere.

It also looks like the guys brought in some actual players. Even minus John and Wes and CT, the deck still has some names that have appeared very recently on the Challenge, as well as some that haven't been seen in a decade or more.

quote:

Here’s a look at the cast as of press time. (Keep in mind that some of these players may end up being alternates!) The show will be hosted by regular ‘Challenge’ host TJ Lavin.

Guys:

Abram Boise (Original season: ‘Road Rules: South Pacific’ 2003)

Ace Amerson (Original season: ‘The Real World: Paris’ 2003)

Cohutta Grindstaff (Original season: ‘The Real World: Sydney’ 2007)

Darrell Taylor (Original season: ‘Road Rules: Campus Crawl’ 2002)

Derrick Kosinski (Original season: ‘Road Rules: X-Treme’ 2004)

Eric “Big Easy” Banks (Original season: ‘The Challenge: Fresh Meat’ 2006)

Laterrian Wallace (Original season: ‘Road Rules: Maximum Velocity Tour’ 2000)

Alton Williams (Original season: ‘The Real World: Las Vegas’ 2002)

Mark Long (Original season: ‘Road Rules: First Adventure’ 1995)

Nehemiah Clark (Original season: ‘The Real World: Austin’ 2005)

Ryan Kehoe (Original season: ‘The Challenge: Fresh Meat’ 2006)

Syrus Yarbrough (Original season: ‘The Real World: Boston’ 1997)

Teck Holmes (Original season: ‘The Real World: Hawaii’ 1999)

Yes Duffy (Original season: ‘Road Rules: Semester at Sea’ 1999)

...

Girls

Aneesa Ferreira (Original season: ‘The Real World: Chicago’ 2002)

Arissa Hill (Original season: ‘The Real World: Las Vegas’ 2002)

Beth Stolarczyk (Original season: ‘The Real World: Los Angeles’ 1993)

Casey Cooper (Original season: ‘The Challenge: Fresh Meat’ 2006)

Jisela Delgado (Original season: ‘Road Rules: The Quest’ 2001)

Katie Doyle (Original season: ‘Road Rules: The Quest’ 2001)

Kellyanne Judd (Original season: ‘The Real World: Sydney’ 2007)

Kendal Sheppard (Original season: ‘Road Rules: Campus Crawl’ 2002)

Ruthie Alcaide (Original season: ‘The Real World: Hawaii’ 1999)

Sophia Pasqui (Original season: ‘Road Rules: The Quest’ 2001)

Jemmye Carroll (Original season: ‘The Real World: New Orleans’ 2010)

Trishelle Cannatella (Original season: ‘The Real World: Las Vegas’ 2002)

(Keep in mind this cast list can change at any time.)

I'm sorry, but fricking Jemmye is not an "OG."

The cutoff should be The Island or The Ruins, which about 2008-ish, and that's even kind of stretching it. The real OGs iny mind are Fresh Meat 1 or Gauntlet III or before, which is about 2006. That was about the time that Theo Vonn left and Wes, John, Kenny and Evan came in I think. That's a good cutoff point.
