Social media users are calling to ban the iconic 1970s hit film 'Grease', condemning it for being "sexist", "homophobic", and "s-ut-shaming".

A Boxing Day viewing of the film on BBC1 sparked outrage online, with many Twitter users calling the film out-dated.

quote:

Critics on Twitter complained about the lyric, "Did she put up a fight?" in the song Summer Nights, when Danny talks about 'hooking up' with Sandy.

Others shared disapproval about Sandy's friend Rizzo, who was s-ut-shamed for having unprotected sex.

The drive-in scene where Sandy and Danny watch a movie together was criticised for being "rapey", one user saying that it "didn't age well".

The lack of LGBTQ+ representation and diversity in the cast angered others.

quote:

But many came to defend the musical, calling "woke" critics over-sensitive "snowflakes".

"Please don't ban #Grease. I know all the words and I've still got a crush on #DannyZuko," one user wrote.

A third wrote: "I really can't believe the #snowflakes want to ban #grease. #w-f"

Well it was awkward seeing a bunch of 30 year olds playing high schoolers, but I don't know that's worth canceling it over.

Apparently they never saw the ending. Girl next door character turned into a "bad" girl.

Some girls are sluts, and that’s fine. But when the nice girl starts acting slutty, she deserves to be shamed.

Change my mind.

Is this where we link an article that has found 4 people that tweeted something with like 7 retweets and pretend like this is anything other than just click bait?

Deserves? No. They can do what they want.

But they're going to attract a different type of guy when they go that route.

First they came for the rape song in Grease.
Then they came for the rape joke in Blazing Saddles.
They forgot to come for the rapists.

A Boxing Day viewing of the film

Isn't f-ing Boxing Day on Dec. 26??

Oh yeah, and fuk those 7 weirdos who complained and fuk the writer for digging through what is probably pages and pages of replies to find the ones he wanted.

Grease has always been oversexualized and kind of creepy. But That's kind of the plot of the whole thing. It's about how the 1950s were supposed to be so prudish but about how dirty your parents' generation (when it was made in the 1970s) actually were.

Just look at when Twitter really took off around 2010-2012 and watch how cultural Marxism rose. It's no coincidence.

They should be far more alarmed at just how filthy the songs are in that movie. I actually kinda love Grease, but watching it as an adult...holy shite, some of those song lyrics are straight up filthy.

"Well this car is automatic, it's systematic, it's hydromatic
Why it's a greased lightnin'!
We'll get some overhead lifters, and four barrel quads, oh yeah
Keep talkin', whoah keep talkin'
Fuel injection cut off, and chrome plated rods, oh yeah
oh yeah I'll get the money, i intend to get the money
With a four-speed on the floor, we'll be waitin' at the door
You know that ain't shite we'll be gettin' lots of tit -
greased lightnin'
[Chorus:] Go, greased lightnin',
you're burnin' up the quarter mile
Greased lightnin', go greased lightnin'
Go, greased lightnin',
you're coastin' through the heap lap trial
Greased lightnin', go greased lightnin'
You are supreme, the chicks'll cream for greased lightnin'
We'll get some purple french tail lights
and thirty inch fins, oh yeah
A palomina dashboard and duel muffler twins, oh yeah
With new boosters, plates and shocks,
I can get off my rocks
You know that I ain't braggin', she's a real pussy wagon -
greased lightnin'"

This! It was summer before my senior year in HS when this movie premiered. Like all teenaged girls, I adored it! But the above sentence was kind of the underlying theme and I had no clue whatsoever at the time. It was written as an adult Broadway musical.

Social media users are calling
This is such a tired headline trope. There are 200-300 MILLION people on twitter. So you can find 20 or so tweets from loonies saying anything. A loud few fringe weirdos say something and it's "people are outraged on social media". And then another group sees it and gets outraged by the outrage.
