The untitled police drama will be set in the same universe as the forthcoming feature film starring Robert Pattinson.

HBO Max and Matt Reeves, the filmmaker behind the new Batman movie, have teamed up to develop a police drama series set in the crime-infested streets of the Caped Crusader’s hometown Gotham City.

Terence Winter, who created the Prohibition crime drama Boardwalk Empire and cut his teeth on The Sopranos, will write and executive produce the series, which is coming with a series commitment from HBO Max. Batman producer Dylan Clark and Warner Bros. Television are also involved.

It is unclear whether Wright and Pattinson would appear in the show. No castings have been made at this early stage, sources say.

“This is an amazing opportunity, not only to expand the vision of the world I am creating in the film, but to explore it in the kind of depth and detail that only a longform format can afford," said Reeves in a statement. "And getting to work with the incredibly talented Terence Winter, who has written so insightfully and powerfully about worlds of crime and corruption, is an absolute dream.”

Just continue with the "Gotham" universe. Great representation of Gotham.

How about a Seinfeld reboot starring Leslie Jones set in the Robert Pattinson Batman and Ben Affleck Batman parallel universes

And here come the SJWs

WB:

"Wow, look at the news. Lots of talk about police...let's do a Batman POLICE show."

"Are you listening to what people are saying about police?"

"We can set it in the world of the new film! People will eat it up! Law and Order Batman!"

"[defeated sigh] Yeah sure, okay."

The notion of a GOTHAM CENTRAL-like TV show ("It's a cop show... but with Batman) is proof that either studio executives don't notice online debates or they don't care because they know that the general audiences watched BLUE BLOODS for ten years (and counting).

We can say "Read the room!" all we want, but they can (correctly) reply with "Look at the ratings and/or global box office."

Is there really a big demand for superhero movies without the superheroes? There’s plenty of superhero movies and tv shows to go around.

There's a really big demand for shows having anything to do with Batman.

Joker, Gotham, Penneyworth, Harley Quinn: Great

Harley Quinn/Birds of Prey: Good

Batwoman: Poor

Isn’t this the same pitch that Gotham was?

Probably, but this should be a far superior show. I'm still not a fan of using batman so much, all at the same time, but this show could end up being very good.

Gotham’s pitch was taking you from the moment Bruce’s parents were killed up to the moment he became Batman.

This show would continue the same universe where Pattinson’s Batman is active and may or may not feature them. Personally I wouldn’t mind if they did something like what they sort of did with JGL in TDKR. Maybe some beat cop is fresh on the force during The Batman and interacts with Patman (I’m going to make that a thing), and the show is told from that beat cop’s PoV and follows his rise up through the police force as Patman deals with the usual Batman shenanigans.

No idea if Patz will make man appearance but what I have learned is that it be set before when THE BATMAN is set and dive into how Gotham became corrupt and infested with criminals.
