What was the deal with Aunt Helen wondering why her dead daughter showed up at her house? I totally did not get that.

It's a prepared response to someone unfamiliar so that they will identify themselves (like Paige did) and she can then play along as Aunt Helen.

Finally caught up on this show. Watched the first season and the 3 episodes this season in about 4 weeks.

Love this show and as others have mentioned at times you find yourself pulling for Russell and Rhys as people and parents even though they are sworn enemies of the US, likely because nothing major did come of the Cold War.

But the layers of this show are great especially the new added layer of the current political situation with Russia. Last season (or even 4 weeks ago in my case)this was interesting from a historical aspect. Now, we appear to be heading towards another secret war with these bastards. Can't wait for tomorrow night.

Something else I was just thinking of. Remember Philip said the KGB was going to put someone on the children as a cover to try and watch them. Think that could be the girl she met in the bus?

Oh wow... didn't think of that. If so, then the girl could provide intel to KGB on Paige's activities to uncover what her parents are up to.

Great episode so far.

Very confused with Elizabeth and Brad's first encounter. By design, or something changing?

Also, there's intrigue in the Rezidenturia

ETA: okay...just when I was about to hang the genius tag on Elizabeth, Phillip picks a fight with martha.

Last year we were wondering what Philip and Elizabeth were doing now that they'd lost their job. I guess we were premature. Maybe grandma and grandpa are still out there working for Putin now.

If we actually get in a conflict with Russia, the premise of this show won't be nearly so entertaining.

I disagree to the extent that the Cold War was not just geo-political, but philosophical. Capitalism versus Communism - two antithetical theories (to some, "good versus evil").

Russia's actions today are pure nationalism and Putin is tyrannical; however, Russia is a capitalist oligarchy, much more closely comparable to Czarist Russia before the 1917 Revolution.

So if something gow down with Russia, it won't influence my enjoyment of this show.
